If you have known Terence Jones over the years, you would have often heard him speak of his passion, music.  He is a unique and talented singer/musician who needs simply to be heard to be appreciated.  He has an extraordinary gift to make his brand of message-oriented music felt by the listener.  

The music he creates is positive, mature and very meaningful as his passion for life is woven into every song he crafts.  His talent as a singer is only matched by his songwriting and production skills. Having diverse musical tastes enables him to create music in varying styles and genres.  "His  latest release, Famous" showcases this unique ability. 

Terence was born in Mount Vernon, NY as the third of 12 children to Reverend and Mrs. Lee Jones.  He became a self taught pianist and songwriter following in the footsteps of his parents and was very active in singing in school choirs and playing piano at church at an early age.

At the age of 12, Terence was placed in the Winthrop Middle School orchestra class as punishment for cutting up in chorus class.  At the time, he had no formal training on stringed instruments.  He was asked to simply sit and listen during rehearsals.  Terence soon became  so mesmerized by the unique sound of the string section that he requested to be assigned a violin.  The instructor curiously granted this request.  Within weeks, Terence began to memorize and play entire scores of classical music with the skill equivalent to that of his more experienced classmates.  The instructor took notice of his abilities and placed him in the string section and allowed him to perform during school concerts, citing that "Terence has a gift from God in music."

At 19, Terence joined the US Navy and  served for 6 and a half years as an IT specialist.  He continued in the Information Technology profession upon being honorably discharged from the military.  Although music remained as one of his passions, he was  equally adept and creative in the computer field.   In the years following, he continued to work while improving his skills as a musician and producer, releasing a string of independent projects.

In 2002, while performing at local a local mall to promote his music.   He was greeted by Kim Cook,  the talent coordinator at PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte, NC.  She booked him on several concerts to open for such greats as Earth Wind and Fire, Chaka Khan, Frankie Beverly and Maze, and Usher.  

In the years that followed, as a married father of four, he focused more on family --not wanting his musical ambitions to take priority.  He played local venues, and produced and music for local artists, Tawanda Robbins, Michael Hill and Rose Belk and for his son, Jason “Jet” Jones.  He also was up for 4 Grammy Nominations over the past 4 years.  

The new release of “Famous” comes at a time when so much of the music industry is going in what Terence refers to as the wrong direction.  “It seems as though people will do just about anything for fame and money.   My hope is that people will walk away with a different perspective on life after hearing my music.  I also hope that listening  will lead to change in the hearts of my listeners as much as it has led to a change within myself in the making of it."
