The Phantasm Records' series part #4 will be presented by MANMADEMAN & FRIENDS. Tune in on 5th June 2014 Thursday 8pm CET on the Trance channel.

Paul Baguley and Sonya Bailey have been producing electronic music as ManMadeMan since 1994, operating in both the commercial and underground dance scenes. Their recording studio is often credited as The Tetrapod. 

Both artists came from completely different musical backgrounds. Paul was working with bands and Sonya was a wayward young girl with a keen ear. Coming together they partied hard at some of the most legendary events back in the early days, Cripps Barn, Dragon Fly, The Fridge, The Rocket and Space Hopper, the club that launched them. It was these experiences that inspired them to create music within a scene that was totally different from anything they had been involved in before. 

And so MMM was born: one EPS 16+ and away they went, until they had a live set. Whilst playing in the clubs where they had partied in earlier days, DJ Tsuyoshi Suzuki heard them and soon after they released their first single. Later they released their first album and followed this up by gigging around the world. This led to meeting loads of new people who were starting labels and soon they were releasing music globally on many record companies throughout the industry. They signed up with Concord International and found themselves supporting the Shaman in 1996. 

Together they worked alongside many producers and have played at a wide range of events across the world. In the summer of 1996, China Records approached them for an album deal. They were then working with the producer of many hit records including Bruce Willis' "Under The Boardwalk". This led to their releasing tracks alongside U2, Massive Attack, Fatboy Slim, The Chemical Brothers, Leftfield and many other renowned artists, and they found their music being remixed by chart-toppers such as KarmaSutra. 

Manmademan have been on the play-lists of Judge Jules, Pete Tong, Sasha, Digweed and other leading DJs. They have fiercely held on to their independence by retaining all rights to their publishing. 

Today the studio consists of a numerous analogue synths ( but not as many as they used to have ) as well as a plethora of virtual synths. Logic Pro is used for sequencing, a far cry from their old Atari. They have never given up, showing an unerring dedication to the scene. Hard to pigeonhole, they can turn their hand to many types of music but trance is where their hearts lie. 

As two of the original psychedelic trance pioneers, their extensive discography includes releases on prominent labels such as Phantasm, Flying Rhino, Matsuri, Transient, TIP.World, Flow, RTTS, Nano and Turbo Trance, amongst many others. In their words, the sound of ManMadeMan is described as “ a totally original style, a bit hard to define, but who cares - it’s positive, funky, psychedelic and musical all at the same time. It has a knack of totally igniting a dance floor while never retracing old steps and yet manages to always sound like manmademan.” 

By asserting total artistic control over independently produced albums, Paul and Sonya are free from the creative constraints imposed by most risk-averse labels seeking only what is safe and dependable.

MANMADEMAN + Friends | Phantasm Records Series Vol. 4 | 05/05/2014

We are happy to present you SOLAR SPECTRUM, the progressive side of the legendary Braincell project, with an hour long journey on the Trance channel. We are airing it 17th July Thursday 9pm CET first and repeating a couple of times throughout the week so don't forget to tune in!

Having started in 1994 as a producer and DJ, Ralph founded the project „Rastaliens“ together with his friend Jay. In 2003 they released the album „Xplore The Wild Side“ on BooM! Records. At the same time he moved to Switzerland with his wife and decided to start his own project called Braincell. His first album „Universal Language“ was released in 2005, which was followed by an impressive string of releases on various compilations and major labels. Two years after his debut, his second album „Transformation of Reality“ came out. The last Rastaliens album, „Back on Earth“, was released in 2007. One year afterwards, Braincell's third album „Frequency Evolution“ was released on Glowing Flame Records and in 2010 his fourth album „Intelligent Being“ came out on Free Spirit Records. These cd's were followed by several releases on various compilations. Since 2007 Ralph has also been producing tracks by the project name Solar Spectrum, which represents the more progressive side of his creativity. Solar Spectrum's debut album was released in 2009 and his second album (R)Evolution of Consciousness was released two years afterwards. The Reunion EP was released on BooM! Records in 2013 together with his 3rd album „Source Energy Creations“ (re-released on Ovnimoon Rec.) and 4th album „Droplets from the matrix“ (Ovnimoon Rec.) 2013 it was time for an Ambient/Chill/Downbeat project which was realized under the name „Unknown Reality“. To date he has played on every major continent; in countries like: USA, Brazil, Australia, Italy, Germany, UK, Greece, South Africa, etc. and received much praise for his energetic and emotional live shows, DJ sets and production skills.

'Symbolic' established by Ilan Shemi & Oshry Ben Simon aka DJ Osho during the middle of the year 2011. Symbolic music style can be best described as, Psychedelic Progressive Trance, heavy fat bass lines, with mechanic rhythms and crunchy grooves, with main focus strictly for the dance floor. Since their first production together, they got incredible feedbacks from the dance floors all around the world and immediately the labels show their interest in working together with them. The first signings 'Crystal Clear' went on a compilation called 'Dance Computer' on 'Iboga Records', compiled by one of the world’s top Progressive Trance DJ’s / Producers, 'Ace Ventura'. Following 'Crystal Clear' was their remix for Ace Ventura & Rocky - Dr. Lupo on Echoes Records, which reached to number 1 on Beatport's Psy-Trance Downloads Chart for several weeks, and become an anthem on dance floors around the world. Two collaboration tracks, one with Liquid Soul called 'Different Reality' and one with Sphera called 'One Step Closer' released on Iboga Records double CD compilation 'Groove Attack' compiled by Liquid Soul. Successful collaboration with Easy Riders (Ace Ventura & Rocky) called 'Flashback' was released on HOMmega Productions. In March 2013 Symbolic released their 'Prime Time' EP on Iboga Records, two tracker EP Prime Time title track made together with Ace Ventura and a remix they made for Vertical Mode - Lazer Shot. Prime Time was chosen as Beatport's Top 10 Psy-Trance tracks of 2013.
During 2013 Symbolic compiled a compilation called 'Sacred Circuits' that was released in the end of the year as physical and digital CD on Zen Mechanics label Sourcecode Transmissions, the compilation include inside 9 exclusive tracks from great selection of artists such as, Zentura, Vertical Mode, Tristan, to name a few. And Symbolic collaboration with Zen Mechanics - Psychological Effects, and Symbolic remix for Sonic Species - Strictly Virtual. Things are looking very interesting for 2014, including more releases to come, collaborations, remixes, and full studio album that will be followed.

It's a mix of deep twisted grooves with a happy night vibe.

Labirinto, aka Dj Pedrao, from Brazil. 

Since his youth, Pedro developed a great love for all things music & movement, which he has channelled his energies into evolving the psychedelic culture in his local scene. Part of the Universe Paralello Festival crew and original casting of Vagalume Records, he has evolved throughout the time and experiences to reach a prime point of the journey of his project. His music is cleverly composed with sophisticated deep basslines, hypnotic synths and overall playful vibes, developing his own unique style of high energy full on groove. Also part of The Big Bang Live together with Ital and 28 Live with Shove, he is a top draw international representative for the powerful Brazilian groove sounds, which he gratefully shares at amazing gatherings all around the world, such as: Universo Paralello (Brazil), Boom (Portugal), Full Moon (Germany), Poison (Mexico)...
