Tamer ElDerini pays homage to his Egyptian roots with a majestic organic house EP on Baikal Nomads, which also includes downtempo and progressive house remixes by BEBO (EG), Andrew Shartner, and G.O.D.A.

One of Egypt's most accomplished electronic music producers, Tamer ElDerini is a Cairo-based artist. His music combines traditional Middle Eastern instruments with modern electronic sounds. He is making his debut on Baikal Nomads following music on other respected record label such as Sol Selectas, • kosa •, Cosmic Awakenings, and Pipe & Pochet.

Complementing the two original tracks are three remixes. The first rework is by BEBO (EG), who is an Egyptian artist making music that's a cultural tapestry. Taking the tribal percussion of Afro house, he mixes in Middle Eastern melodies from his own heritage, and fuses them with electronic sounds. His tracks and remixes can be heard on the likes of Cafe De Anatolia and Shango Records.

Based in Western Siberia, Andrew Shartner is a Baikal Nomads regular, whose style is inspired by nature and its striking landscapes.

G.O.D.A. is another Egyptian artist, and he is an ambassador for Egypt's underground scene. He has played DJ sets all over the world, and his storytelling style has garnered an international fanbase. His organic style of progressive house has been released by prestigious record labels such as 3rd Avenue.

The title track, "Desert Voice," opens the release with a throbbing bass synth, laying a foundation for the enchanting melodies of Middle Eastern strings. "Dana Dana" is second of the original tracks, and its tranquil pads, Arabic vocals, and delicate piano melodies, intertwine with flowing percussion. BEBO (EG)'s remix of "Dana Dana" adds extra percussion and an arpeggio bassline, which brings an Afro house groove to the original's string melodies. Andrew Shartner delivers a downtempo remix of "Dana Dana," which strips out the strings to focus on trippy guitar chords. G.O.D.A. closes the release with a progressive house remix of "Desert Voice” that utilises a new melody and melodic pads.

Sebo’s followers describe his sounds with words such as ‘Smoooothe', ‘Jujujuju', ‘Woooohohoho’, ‘Kraaaankes teil', ‘Megaaaaa’, ‘Uuuuuh’ and ‘Ojee'.

Floating on the strobe lights, smoke machines and sunrises you can feel the Jujujuju. Part time hippies say it feels the way love tastes; others just keep dancing. At German festivals such as Fusion, Garbicz and Sonne Mond & Sterne, people explode with feelings of Woooohohoho. You forget to take your beer when you’re lost in the Woo, but it’s a nice place to be lost — and Sebo takes you there. However, in the many club venues around Europe and the world; the old Bar 25, the new Katerblau and Watergate of Berlin, Frieda’s Büxe of Zurich, Maxim’s of Paris and Kloster in Istanbul, he’s all hypnotic trips of Smoooothe — you’re stuck in the groove with your moves.

Brazilians mostly use the word Megaaaaa to describe his sets. In countries like this, Sebo uses the nature to regenerate. Coconut water diets cleanse his sensitive aura with fresh Ojee and Jujujuju; enough to spread through every DJ set he plays and every track he releases on the very Kraaaankes teil label ‘URSL Records’ — the joint custody child he conceived with Madmotormiquel and Soukie & Windish.

Sebo is a guy filled with a super Smoooothe Woooohohoho that’s had people on clouds of Uuuuuh since before these words were words. Feel the Ojee, smell the Jujujuju.

Unsere Nr. 142 kommt an diesem heißen Sommer-Sonntag vom überragenden Foreign Guest aus Berlin. Musikalisch kennen wir den Tausendsassa Balthasar schon seit gut zwei Jahren von seiner umwerfenden Mix-Serie „My Mental Walks“ die immer besondere Glücksmomente hervorruft. Im November letzten Jahres sind wir dem smarten Herren dann bei unserer Party im MenschMeier endlich mal persönlich über den Weg gelaufen und im Backstage gleich auf ein paar Bierchen versumpft.

Balthasar hat sich voll und ganz der Musik verschrieben. Neben seinem DJing und der Aufgabe als Labelmanager für Moodmusic Records ist er auch sehr erfolgreich als Produzent unterwegs. Neben Veröffentlichungen auf Moodmusic Records und Underyourskin Records hat uns ganz besonders der Free-Track „Die Rückkehr“ begeistert und berührt, den er über unsere Freunde von trndmusik herausgebracht hat. In diesem Track hat er eigene Erfahrungen musikalisch verarbeitet. Schön das zu zurück bist Balthasar ;-)

Ganz nach dem Motto „Afterhour ist was man draus macht“ hat uns Foreign Guest mal einen ganz anderen und sehr speziellen Mix zusammengebastelt. Der Mix hält sich immer die Waage zwischen Spannung und Entspannung, auf der eine Seite druckvoll und doch immer so sanft, genau was eine schöne Afterhour braucht.

For our ‘Pyrotechnik’ edition this week we’ve got Lars Neubert as our cook. The Berlin-rooted producer/disc jockey sets the mood in a serene but deep tone that floats well below the surface. Lars gave this edition a spicy twist, as it is his fastest tempo set in the past 6 years.

Also known as Lars Funk, he started producing in 2006 for labels like Casual Lab, WONNEmusik, Auditive, Cubetribe Records and many more. He has since been portraying his life journey through his records, remixes, DJ sets and live gigs across the country.

Today’s cocktail got lots of Scandinavian spirit! Danish electronica newcomers BYLJA, consisting of Marchel Mørk & Emil Aagaard, is presenting the Scandinavian version of the Moscow Mule, the “Nordic Mule”.

BYLJA is one of those acts we stumbled upon while browsing through the endless stream in the cloud of sounds. The project has just debuted in Denmark and is not yet one year old. Marchel and Emil have released one track as of today, this gem is called “LAKI”. It was love at first sight. Or, better, at first hear. The track transports such an incredible atmosphere of melancholic, ambient but at the same time uplifting melodies. It was clear we wanted BYLJA on board and we are super happy they mixed their first mixtape for Schirmchendrink!

Marchel Emil share an enthusiastic passion for electro-acoustic ambient house music, which they give a personal and Nordic touch through BYLJA. With musical inspiration from artists such as Kiasmos, Bonobo and Moderate, BYLJA moves in a world of melancholy, well thought compositions and magnificent sound surfaces. At the same time, BYLJA's sound universe has deep roots in the house music, from which
they include rich bass and distinctive drums.

BYLJA's sound is characterized by a natural fusion of the digital and the analogue. Both computers and analog synthesizers, acoustic piano, guitar and bass form the frame of the duo's organic sound.

Their Nordic Mule contains fantastic unreleased productions of the duo. Can you guess where they are hidden? We are so much looking forward for those pearls to be released…and more coming from BYLJA soon!
