We are very lucky to have a friend like Floyd Lavine from Berlin to Johannesburg.

Over the past decade, Floydʼs reputation has arisen through championing the  African electronic music sound, growing a resounding following and movement  around the world.
 
It is only fitting that 2021 sees Floyd Lavine launch his own imprint, Afrikan  Tales. 

Afrikan Tales is a boutique label focusing on bespoke music and showcasing  artists from the African continent and artists around the world who are inspired  by the rich African culture. 
“My vision for the label is to tell our own story, create our own narrative and  explore our own creativity without limitations“ Floyd Lavine. 

The 1st release The Story Tellers is a debut EP from Floyd, through his  own label Afrikan Tales. The EP explores Floydʼs versatility, showcasing a  rounded sound package, encompassing some soulful cuts all the way through  to a futuristic Afro sound. 

''Skirts & Pants''captures that Afrofuturistic sound so synonymous with Floyd Lavine.

Release Info: Our new Chrom EP is again from an artist we picked up from our own Chromologic Sampler Series: Topek, a dj/producer from Poznań, Poland. You might remember him from his track " The Law" on our Chromologic Sampler from last summer. Since then he had some nice releases on Electronic Tree & Polyptych, and now he is back on Chrom with a 4-track EP, completed with 2 remixes from Spain, by Coherence & Orel Mond!

Since his first day of producing Topek is in love with progressive sounds. Inspired by artists like Pryda, Matthias Meyer, Rodriguez Jr, Hot Since 82, John Digweed or Lee Burridge, his style is not so obvious and not focused on one specific sound. Since 2020 Topek is resident dj at House Szkolna Music club in Poznań. but also performing at Polish festivals like Audiopole, Agregatik and famous Poznan afterparties! His sets always share a story: he takes the dancefloor on a progressive journey full of melodies but also with dynamic house beats. And that's exactly what you will hear over the 4 tracks of his Chrom EP which is called "Nablus".

For the remix of the title track we asked Coherence back. Coherence made a superb remix last year on Chrom for Fernando Lagreca and now he does the same here for Topek! Before his debut on Chrom, Coherence appeared already on Sol Selectas, and since then also on Natura Viva. And last but not least we introduce a completely new name to the scene: Orel Mond, also from Spain who shows his talent for the first time to the world with his melodic techno version of the B-side track "Reborn".

A newcomer to the label is Boel, and what an entrance he makes! This is a true melodic banger with raw deep power. The deep bassline, smartly placed percussions and elegant yet catchy arps work in perfect harmony. All contributing to this great journey consisting of small tension builders and mesmerizing pads. A great piece of art by Boel!
