Yoga is the fashionable thing now. Yoga, as translated, means joining, yoking two separate things together. I am sure it had quite a different meaning at the beginning. Yoga meant probably harmony, not bringing two things together, the soul and the body. Yoga has been brought to the Western world to make people healthy, happy, young, find God. Originally, from what I was told, there was a certain leaf in the Himalayas which only very few people chewed, and it kept their brains and their minds tremendously alert. And as the vine or the bush disappeared, they had to invent a system called yoga which kept all the glands perfectly healthy, operating efficiently. And that is how yoga came into being, the exercises. Also in it is involved a moral way of life, not just doing some silly little exercises.

Bordeaux-based label Broken District is proud to announce the release of Theoric Proximity, the debut album from French producer and label co-founder Jus Jam. Following several well-received EPs, including the standout 90s Anxiety, this new 12-track project marks a turning point in both the artist’s personal journey and the label’s musical evolution.

Rooted in introspection and emotional depth, Theoric Proximity explores the notion of connection — physical and emotional proximity — and the complex, often subtle relationships we navigate in our everyday lives. It's a deeply personal work shaped by late-night sessions and a desire for sonic escapism.

Musically, the album blends ambient, jazz, UK-influenced club music, hip-hop, house, broken beat and soul into a cohesive, atmospheric journey. Though diverse in rhythm and form, the project retains a strong sense of identity, shaped by Jus Jam’s distinctive taste and production sensibility.

Rather than chasing trends or referencing specific styles, Theoric Proximity stems from a blank-slate approach, embracing intuition and emotional resonance over formula. Still, fans of artists like Anthony Naples, Andrea (Ilian Tape), Space Ghost, Hanna, James Blake, or Dreamcastmoe will likely find familiar textures and moods within the album’s palette.

Theoric Proximity represents a new milestone for Broken District, now confidently stepping into long-form storytelling through music. This debut album is an invitation to slow down, to drift, and to feel.

Ein Spaziergang im Watt
beruhigt die Nerven und kühlt die Füße. Was könnte entspannter sein nach einem aufregenden und anstrengendem Tag am Meer. Viele Stunden mit warmer Sonne, Salzwasser auf der Haut und Eis im Bauch, liegen zurück.
Die Kinds haben sich ausgetobt. Mit wildem Gebrüll wurden Spielplätze erobert, Möwen verjagt und langweilige Erwachsene mit Wasser bespritzt. Anschließend wurde der Strand unsicher gemacht und tote Quallen als Wurfgeschosse missbraucht. Nun liegen die beiden friedlich in eine Decke eingekuschelt im Hotelzimmer.
Endlich haben wir ein bisschen Zeit für uns, nur eben eine frische Brise im Rucksack verstaut und die Wanderung bei Dämmerung kann beginnen.
Noch einmal tief durchatmen und den Frieden, die Stille des Wattmeeres genießen.
