@lea-lisa has been in an around the house scene since the 90's and is widely recognised for her DJing talents which pre Covid regularly saw her travel across the globe to light up some of the finest clubs the scene has to offer. Lea is also an accomplished producer releasing on Wolf Music, Phonica / Karakul, Mona Musique & Inner Balance Recordings with strong DJ support from the likes of Kerri Chandler, Jovonn, Dj Grégory, Rainer Trueby, S3A and Laurent Garnier.

With a brand new EP landing via Phonica sub label @karakulrecords, we asked Lea to put together a mix for us which you can check above, it's a classy selection of music from across the house universe from deep to soulful.

Bliss Point: ‘’Brooklyn’s Bliss Point delivers its fourth release this June, a three-track collection from NY producer Duane Island, combining elements of trance, italo and disco to pack as much life as possible into one release.

The summer of 2020 was a memorable one, Duane Island - real name Dan Komanoff - was in Manhattan, back in his childhood bedroom. Days were long but he was mostly inside. The view from the room’s window was just another brick wall, although for a few moments a day, a bit of light would hit the portable studio where he would jam after work. His brother was around, too, so Dan enlisted him on keys. When their parents left for a weeklong vacation, the party began: they could jam louder and smoke inside.

Armed with a dropbox of disco breaks a friend had just ripped from his collection, Dan spent the week chopping 16 bar loops and writing bass lines under his brother's airy pad progressions. Italo gems dug from the annals of discogs had been the soundtrack of Dan's year so far, and the brothers used these sounds to transport themselves to that otherworldly lakeside scene that, save a few mixes and grainy photos, might never have existed at all. After a few hours of writing, Dan and his brother would take their jams to the roof to test them out in the open air and smoke some more. New ideas would float toward them from the other side of lower Manhattan, where the sun had just set, and they’d head back inside.

The result of these sessions is Solar Effect, three enormous and heartfelt club excursions. The title track, “Solar Effect”, twists in on itself like a trip peaking at noon, pairing squelching FM synth lines with airy piano chords to get hands in the air, feet off the ground, and heads in the clouds.

“Figo Dream” is an afternoon bike ride through a lifted and euphoric dreamscape, anchored by a pulsing bass line that changes course at just the right moment. “Olio” cruises back to earth by sunset, with cheeky keys and voices from dancefloors past beckoning for another go round. Bliss Point is proud to welcome Duane Island to the roster with this stellar house offering, just in time for the sun to bring some life back to New York.’’

Palms Trax signals the arrival of his new label CWPT with ‘Petu’, a new single featuring South African vocalist, Nonku Phiri. Originally debuting in dub form during the Berlin-based DJ and producer’s set at The Music Locker as part of Grand Theft Auto Online, ‘Petu’ reemerges here as a soulful collaboration, neatly complimented by a wide-eyed take from Masalo.

Initially written as a slow-heating instrumental to connect the various musical dots across a DJ set, Palms Trax nonetheless had a vocalist in mind throughout, a fresh voice to lend ‘Petu’ universality and energy. Introduced through mutual friend Esa, Johannesburg’s Nonku Phiri draws on her signature style influenced by vintage Afropop styles and folk traditions, delivering a smooth and vulnerable tale of desire. Triumphant brass recorded by instrumental collective Jungle By Night adds to the depth of instrumentation and feeling throughout, each element driven by Palms Trax’s ebullient percussion and an altogether celebratory energy felt across both the original and dub cuts.

Closely associated with Dutch dance music staple Rush Hour Records, Masalo subtly raises the tempo on his high-energy rework of Petu, spinning off the interconnected elements of the original into a memorable and gloriously Italo-tinged house trip.

Established in 2021, CWPT will play home to Palms Trax original productions alongside collaborations, mixtapes, new-generation artists and vital reissues. An online blog will feature interviews, reportage and charts exploring the stories past and present at the fringe of Palms Trax’s wide-reaching record collection.

I first met my soulful stellarsonic "Partner In Chime" (Soulpersona) back in 2006 when I was studying A Bachelor Of Popular Music Degree in my Honours year at Griffith University on Australia's Gold Coast. He found me through Myspace and thought my style was "off the chain" so he sent over a track for me to give a geeze that was to become the saucy slow-steppin' "Candy Wrapper". After he'd heard it, loved it, and wanted to continue this international digital dalliance, our creative collaborations expanded into a full-blown MUSEical relationship that would see me transfer to UKingdom's shores to further pursue my career... and to meet Soulpersona for the very first time, 5 years later!

I hope you enjoy pepper-peeping these as much as I thoroughly revelled in co-birthing them. The fated collision of Freesh and SoulP was destined to change my life forever, in only the HOXXXIEST ways! :)

London based Katie has burst on the scene recently with a very busy schedule playing all across the UK and beyond, with a residency at Patterns (Brighton) and a monthly radio show on Balamii.

She has shared line ups with huge headliners such as Horse Meat Disco, Honey Dijon, Folamour, Dan Shake, Moxie, Jeremy Underground and many more.

Faro grew up on her Dad’s collection of R&B and Soul and started getting into electronic music in her early teens. Soulful and Jazzy sounds continue to always be the key ingredient in her musical selection. Her DJ career began back in 2016 in her University town of Brighton, however, this year is set to be the best yet as she works hard in the studio on her own productions and running two events, Freshly Squeezed and Faro & Friends.
