Los primeros hippies que llegaron a Goa, India, a mediados de los años 1960 llegaban atraídos por múltiples razones, entre ellas las hermosas playas, el bajo coste de la vida, los amigables residentes locales, las religiones indostánicas, las prácticas espirituales y las drogas.
Los primeros DJs ponían generalmente música de grupos de rock psicodélico, una decada despues, los discos originales eran manipulados, eliminando la mayor parte de las partes vocales, excepto aquellas con un contenido espiritual o apocalíptico. Asi nació el Trance. Décadas despues, en la necesidad de ir buscando otros ritmos mas chill, contrarrestándo el estilo de vida estresante, comienzan a nacer nuevos subgeneros de la psicodelia electrónica.

The first DJs generally played music from psychedelic rock groups, a decade later, the original albums were manipulated, eliminating most of the vocal parts, except those with a spiritual or apocalyptic content. That's how Trance was born. Decades later, in the need to look for other more chill rhythms, counteracting the stressful lifestyle, new subgenders of electronic psychedelia begin to be born.

Welcoming the fourth instalment of our new ‘Reflections Revisited’ single series, British production duo Dusky present an ethereal, piano-led rework of their 2013 release ‘Mr Man’, originally heard as the standout track on James Grant & Jody Wisternoff’s Anjunadeep 05. 

Asserting themselves as leaders of the UK underground, Dusky have amassed a variety of titles throughout their career, including global headliners, where they have graced the likes of Berlin’s Parorama Bar to London’s famous nightclub Fabric. Since their 2012 breakthrough track ‘Flo Jam’ which saw them signed to Dogmatik, the duo continued to push their sound forward, landing a string of releases on iconic labels such as Anjunadeep and Polydor. Their biggest track ‘Careless’ went down as a cult classic, cementing their place in the scene’s hall of fame. 

Within these formative years, Dusky built up a strong rapport within the Anjunadeep eco-system, releasing their debut album ‘Stick By This, plus a series of EPs and multiple features on Anjunadeep’s annual series, including their 2013 production ‘Mr Man’ on Anjunadeep 05. 

With over 3 million streams on the original, the classically trained duo delve into their more traditional roots, which we have seen glimpses of over the years in the form of stripped back renditions such as ‘Lost In You (Pianopella)’, to present a stunning, moving piano-led rework.

"We have fond memories of making the original version of Mr Man and playing it out in our DJ sets over the years. The track came about from an unlikely pairing between a deep house backing and a piano line inspired by Debussy’s Clair De Lune. 

We’ve been listening to a lot of ambient music recently, and writing a lot too, so with encouragement from the Reflections label team we decided to re-work Mr Man into something beatless. The piano riff came first in the original writing process, so we felt it made sense to take it and completely re-imagine a whole new piano-led piece of music around it."

Raul Jordan is the artist behind the Lab’s Cloud project. Born in 1978 in Valencia (Spain).
Raúl began producing Psychedelic Trance as PSYCHO ABSTRACT with many compilations and
three albums in well-known labels. And after some years, in
2004, Raul starts a new project focused in Ambient & Down Tempo music under the project's
name: LAB'S CLOUD.
His style in words of the listeners is: a smooth organic ride, sweet, deep, riding, floating,
beautiful and delicious music oriented to chill outs, with space atmospheres, some chilling
vocals, some ethnic sounds, ethereal flutes and acoustic recordings (percussion, guitars..etc)
that make a sublime fusion that culminates into an aural experience. A definite trip for the soul!
The first single "Esmeralda" appears in 2005 in the compilation Chillum 4 (Agitato Records)
motivating great interest in many international labels. (All releases bellow).
The live performances is a very important item for Lab’s Cloud, for that reason, Raul makes
real live, improvising with synths and adapting the sounds according to the answer of the
audience. 
Since several years, Raúl is working as R+D engineer, developing professional audio
processors (EQ, Compressors-Limiters, crossover...) for Lynx Pro Audio. Actually with his
experience as sound engineer is offering his mixing and mastering services (Abstract
Studios), who demand it.
