PAO combines sentiment and flow for his debut track ‘Eyes On The Road (feat. Yukimura)’. New to the Australian music scene, his sound explodes with colourful synths layered with vocal chops whilst auto-tuned vocals from Yukimura envelope layers of deeper meaning, the result being a fresh take on future bass. 

Injecting emotion back into an upbeat and pop-laden top line, ‘Eyes On The Road’ encapsulates an accessible understanding of reflective experience for listeners driven by strong bass at its core. Structured and spacious verses of lo-fi vocals from Yukimura and dreamy verbed-out guitar primes the unleashing of a synth heavy drop, rhythmically chopped to counteract any chance of recycled familiarity. The track echoes the excitement associated with connecting to new places and forming new relationships having been produced over multiple locations in Northern WA.

@day2knight (Reagan Whitcombe) debut release on Lab Six Records ‘Made A Fool’ (feat. Claudia Harrison)’ produces an emotional narrative through circular arrangement, taking influence from melodic dubstep to mirror the internal rise and fall when faced with a disintegrating connection. Puritanical vocals from Claudia Harrison (The Voice) and the simplicity of guitar helps build the track to multiple breaks and drops, using fortified dub hits to expose a raw centre and impactful hook. 

“The break-through moment on the track was definitely when Claudia jumped
onboard and did the vocals as that tied together the track and gave it direction,” said D2K. 

Combining pared-back instrumentals with meticulously sequenced bass and toms  creates a balance between light and dark, of optimism and losing control, which further accents the clear lyrical message. “The track is about a break up and the road that the two people take, resolving in happiness for only one of them,” comments D2K.

Drops are made more powerful through the creation of space in build-ups to highlight vocals, working as a palate cleanser in preparation for the drop of tumbling drums and an unforgettable vocal hook, laden with empowerment. 

With ‘Made A Fool’ being his debut release, D2K has definitely primed listeners for impressive future releases.

This half-disney prince, half-RnB super star combines polished production, rich vocal tones and a killer hook (not to mention his undeniable good looks) that’ll have you listening on repeat. ‘One Night Only’ could easily be sandwiched into a playlist between Chris Brown’s modern classic ‘Forever’ and Usher’s 2016 electropop release ‘Crash’ - it’s not out of place. 

‘One Night Only’ has all the markings of a hit; clean pop production, easy dance floor groove and unreal vocals. 

A true highlight is the pre-chorus; Jurell’s innate vocal talent honed by years of gospel, has just a slight intentional wink of autotune, making the track relevant to today’s listeners and leading to an electronic finish that is equal parts inspiring and groovy. The song’s classic pop arrangement creates space for well-written lyrics and spotlight’s Jurell’s immaculate falsetto. You can’t help but sing along (or try to).

The ebbing lyrical delivery and expert hook will have you living inside the life of this track, playing it over and over whilst pretending you’re in a Video Hits film clip rolling down the freeway in your dream convertible, your hair blowing stylishly in a flattering and sexy amount of warm summer wind. 

Jurell could easily be Australia’s answer to Justin Bieber. Watch this space.

Flaneur’s first release on Lab Six Records is liminal yet tangible. ‘Far Away’ incorporates an addictive hook, piano house topline and spacious vocals create easy listening and summery submersion. 

A somewhat softened break-beat carries the track forwards and balances the nearly lo-fi indie-pitched vocals from Sun City’s Dan Mackey Combining vocal elements reminiscent of the late 2000’s Cut Copy era and Northeast Party House echo with a reverby piano house signature keeps it fresh and natural avoiding a sharpness through over-production. The careful variation in drum volume builds and releases an organic human groove. 

‘Far Away’ is undeniably a salty-air soundscape for your summer to come.

"Without U" is a sonic journey that encapsulates the essence of love and self-discovery. The lyrics are paradoxical. They paint a picture of a relationship where the absence of a significant other becomes a catalyst for self-realization and empowerment. The track embraces the duality of emotions, navigating through the delicate balance between solitude and connection.

The melody intertwines with the lyrics, creating an immersive experience that is both euphoric and reflective. The track transcends the boundaries of conventional electronic dance music, offering an emotional depth that resonates with those who have tasted both the bitter and sweet sides of love.

As with the approach to most of my music, the track came together jamming on some of my synths. The most effective way to create is to set up with some gear and just hit record. In the span of 40 minutes to an hour of playing, only about 40 seconds of truly impactful sounds may emerge. Yet, this catalyst helps push you into an incredible flow state. Without U is no exception. I remember taking the bubbly lead sound from my eurorack synth and the vocals from my sampler. After I had these, the song pretty much wrote itself. It was one of those smooth sessions where you leave with a complete song. Very rare but when it happens you know you're onto something!

Inspired by WA’s relentless South Westerly winds and the haunting storytelling of artists like Billie Eilish and Michael Jackson, this song is one of her fastest creations to date — and perhaps one of her most honest.

“There was this one day where I could almost hear people talking through the wind,” she recalls. “I was already deep in my feels listening to “Birds of a Feather”, and suddenly it just all came together. Within an hour, the whole thing was written.”

There’s no single story behind the lyrics — rather, a collage of situationships, friendships, and fractured connections where words were twisted and the truth eventually came out. “We’ve all been there — when someone lies, and you know something’s off. Eventually, the truth always breaks through. This track is that moment, that release.”

One particularly raw memory came from a past relationship where a small lie cracked open something bigger. “He said he was home. Turns out, he was out clubbing, at the strip club — the whole thing. I didn’t even have to dig, it just came out during an argument. That moment stuck with me, and you can feel it in the song.”

Blending emotionally-charged lyricism with RnB pop sensibility, the single captures the heat of betrayal with a cool, haunting edge. Written during a freezing WA winter — her first after moving from tropical Queensland — the track took shape as she sat curled up next to a tiny wall heater, listening to “Smooth Criminal” and “Birds of a Feather” on repeat. “I even used a pre-chorus I wrote for a totally different song — but it just fit so perfectly, it was meant to be.”
The single forms a crucial chapter in Zerllia’s upcoming EP, a carefully woven storyline tracing the rise and rinse of a toxic relationship. “This song marks a turning point in the narrative — where illusions fall away, and truth takes center stage. It’s not about rage, it’s about release.”
