From the first time I threw on this Chef's Hat,
I realized I needed to be different, so I did that,
I used fresh bases for the words in my stash,
Some didn't taste great, but the rest kicked ass,

I think that's why I've worked as long as I have,
The words kept me going, even when passion lacked,
I took the opportunity to make the pan splash,
So these days I'll remember every venue that I smashed,

Wifey says I'm getting on and styles gettin' old,
But the recipes worked for me, I still made 'em my own,
And true heads recognize the taste that I brought along,
So I had to lay it down, and make it possible to hold,

Can't really cook no more, the voice has gone out,
So now I've turned to these books, and these stories about,
Everything that I've done, as best that I can remember,
To reminisce and hopefully for youngin's to spark the ember,

Been a while, I got arthritis settlin' in,
But I got recipe books filled to the top, to the brim,
I've been making heads happy, no matter how they day grim,
Something about my synonyms when rockin' my pseudonym,

But I did get it in, so now I share it with the world,
Bring that joy, from my old kitchen straight to you and yours,
Like the beauty in the chorus, or the pitch in my voice,
Understandable, but I think it has to do with a little more,

Like the history, the time and effort always been here,
People ignored the past, I cracked open the books with cheer,
I embodied times, anguished over rhymes and through sheer
Motivation, brought a smile from ear to ear [throughout the years],

But it's time to hang up the apron, or so it appears,
I did the dance, the song, and encores was held dear,

I posted in a thread on reddit under /r/makinghiphop and /u/gabeisfire420 reached out, and after showing me this beat he made at the beginning of the month, I wrote and recorded this in under an hour. Hopefully the mix isn't terrible, please feel free to leave comments/critiques!
