Four years ago, during the Summer of 2019, I released a mix for Party People Sound Solutions, the Victoria-based promotions company run by local legend Jeff Lingwood (Dj Primitive). Jeff wanted me to create a mini mix that essentially represents my more ‘lounge’ style of djing and also showcases some of the vibes that I bring to Lure; the classy little spot where I spend my Saturday nights in the Delta Hotel. At the time, Feel Trip was uploaded to Mixcloud, and it wasn’t until just a month ago that I rediscovered it, and decided that it needed some dreamy album art and a new home on SC. A lot of classic Nu Jazz from the mid-2000s in this one, and a handful of my fave Lofi house artists. She’s a short one, but honestly, this mix is literally good for anytime, anywhere. Summer vibes baby. Big love to Matt Dezine for that gorgeous, pastel album art. 🫧

Pachena Bay Festival 2023

I am thrilled to share this interpretation of my set from Pachena Music Festival, 2023 in Huu-ay-aht territory. This was my third time in this beautiful place but the first time at this festival (or any festival here). I have to admit I am now a huge fan of the silent disco medium and would jump at the opportunity to do it again, this was my first time playing one and then after my set I enjoyed it as a dancer too.  It was a pleasure choosing the music for this and appreciate so much all the positive feedback I've received since. This set is dedicated to my boys, Freddie and Makai, who had the time of their lives at this family friendly festival, and special mention to my eldest Freddie, who woke up at 2am to come dance to my set, highlight of my summer for SURE! 

Big thanks to Ben and Kat Howells for the opportunity and for throwing such a rad festival, and to the Huu-ay-aht Nation for hosting us in one of the most beautiful places on planet earth.

We had an amazing beach day on labour day weekend to close out an epic season of Beach FamJams!!  This recording was live off the mixer so you get to hear all our announcements throughout :)  This event was an epic ending to an amazing summer season of dancing on beaches.  Here's to many more!! We gathered for a legendary evening to celebrate a legendary woman, the inimitable Sandra Viney <3  I LOVE this set!!  It incorporates many new finds that I'm stoked about.  Next stop Woodstove Festival.... <3

Sandy's Birthday

This is a set I put together earlier this year which was meant to be played this summer at 230pm on the beach stage at The Pachena Bay Festival on Saturday. Due to what seemed to be an unfortunate surge from the generator, my USB hub got fried, and therefore I was unable to connect my laptop to my mixer. I was heartbroken. Thankfully I had some of the most important people in my life around me to keep me from a complete breakdown. 

After many attempts to get things to work, the decision was made to play on CDJs, through an external HD, which didn’t have the music for this set on it, so I had to quickly improvise. The set went well, people loved it, but I was left extremely frustrated and discouraged. 

In the 30 years I’ve been playing music, I’ve honestly never put so much time, effort and emotion into building a set as I have this one. After the unfortunate events, I vowed I’d never play this anywhere other than the setting is was meant for, but my amazing Estelle 💖 talked me into making this my first studio recording in almost 8 years, and I’m happy she did.

What Could Have Been

After the ranger showed up and asked that we turn down the bass, I still managed to get away with playing for 2 hours!  (Turn up the bass on your stereo at home to play this mix please.  It was an epic birthday celebration to end all birthdays... pictured is the CAKE!

Kristenpalooza

Fozzy Fest is a special experience for many different people, for many different reasons. 
For our crew it is a celebration of our friend Connor. 
His birthday always lands at the same time, and many people have incredible memories and even dreams of Connor at this close to home festival. 
We think this is why we feel so close to him here. We can express the energy that he has given, energy that he will always give...
Especially when we are together.

Tribute Mix Vol. 3 - Live at Fozzy Fest 2018

The Alchemist

LadyK is a unique DJ, producer and pole athlete based on Vancouver Island.  She consistently delights crowds with her internationally-flavoured, syncopation-forward tribal house.  LadyK occasionally adds sensual athleticism to her shows by pole dancing during her DJ sets, laying her claim to the title of “The World's First Pole Dancing DJ.”  

LadyK's musical background includes completing a Bachelor of Music in Composition and Education at University of Toronto.  There she was exposed to a myriad of genres of world music and discovered a passion for West African dance.  LadyK also lived in Trinidad and Tobago for several months in 2011, which contributed to her love of soca music, steel pan drumming and syncopated rhythms. 

LadyK has played festivals including Tall Tree, Song and Surf, Atmosphere Gathering, Diversity and Carrington Bay.  She has shared the stage with the Librarian, Tanya Taqak, Dakini, Erica Dee and many more.  She also was a part of an all-girl DJ collective, The Electrolytes in 2012-13 and held a residency during that time at The Flying Canoe in Courtenay, BC.  She has performed all over the west coast of Canada and the U.S., including Hawaii and Mexico.

In 2018, LadyK has been celebrating her first release of her original tribal house production, “Fetche” on ISAVIS Records (Italy).  She has had her mixes aired on IbizaLiveRadio.com (Spain) and RadioAttiva (Italy).  She has also received support from Madorasindahouse, the #1 International Afrohouse blog and Youtube channel out of Greece.  She has been hard at work in the studio with more music to release in the spring of 2018.  The future is bright for this internationally-minded DJ, producer and pole dancer!
