Hour of Light is hosted by Ahu, Istanbul-based cult singer, DJ and songwriter. This month, Ahu presents an Iceland special with her guest Andri.

Andri Már Arnlaugsson aka Dj AnDre is a DJ and an event promoter from Reykjavík, Iceland. Andri has been in the Icelandic electronic and dance scene since the early 2000s. Growing up listening to trip hop, drum&bass and hip hop music his mix is influenced by record labels like Mo Wax, Warp, Ninja Tune and Metalheadz.

When I got asked to open for Shigeto a few weeks ago, I was beyond excited. 
I love Shigeto, and I love Jazz (duh!) Also, Motor City has been such a huge influence on me, musically - from Motown to JayDee, to Moodymann, - it’s just an endless trove of inspiration.
I had such a great time DJing, and didn’t know at the time that they recorded it. I was glad they did because I don’t get to play this kind of stuff out very often these days. I used to do a lot of it 2003-2006…
Only thing is, the file I was given is only the second half of my two- hour set. So I recreated the first half at home. (Thank you Serato, for the history bins!) and then I joined them…I really wanted you to hear the whole thing and how the evening built…

It all started in 2009 in a youth room in Ölbronn-Dürrn. Manuel and Moritz founded @PH_Wert, lat. Potentia hydrogenii and thus laid the basis for Hydrogenii's further work, which presents itself with beautiful boom-bap, instrumental hip-hop releases on the label Postpartum from Auerbach an der Oberpfalz since 2017. In addition to producing, Hydro also diligently collects records of various genres and has provided us with a magnificent mix. Enjoy listening
