The Knocks' "Modern Hearts" really sounded like a really great remix of an 80's New Wave track, even though it is an original song. I figured I'd work backwards and try to make my song sound like what they sampled to make "Modern Hearts". I hope that makes sense without knocking The Knocks. Nonetheless hope you like the track!

Hold On, We're Going Home (Drake Cover feat. Tmar)

I got the opportunity to officially remix this classic song to coincide with the release of a new Donny Hathaway box set. I was given the original multitrack master of the studio version (different from the live version)and it consisted of 8 different instrument and vocal tracks (as opposed to the more usual 24 tracks) 
When I take on a remix, my first goal is to make it work on a current dance floor. I like to stay very close to the originally recorded sound and In most case there's plenty to be reworked on the multitrack master to achieve this. 
This case proved a little different as there were few rhythm elements I could use to fit within current standards of club loudness levels. So I decided to take a slightly different approach, and add a new set of (acoustic) drums,  to bend the original Soul vibe a little towards Disco territory. 
This remix is exclusive to my soundcloud page and free to download as a 16bit WAV file

"I'm just trying to get through as many songs as possible," explained Nile Rodgers. The audience could perhaps have worked this out without his help: there's something joyfully relentless about the the latter-day Chic Organisation's approach to live performance. Everybody Dance, Dance Dance Dance, I'm Coming Out, Upside Down, He's The Greatest Dancer and We Are Family: that's not the edited highlights, that's the opening salvo of songs. If the aim is to make you boggle at the sheer quantity of massive hits Rodgers has authored, it works. Even when he pulls out a relatively unknown number - Soup For One, from a 1982 film soundtrack – it turns into a cover of a hit that sampled it, Lady by Modjo. Perhaps understandably, an atmosphere of mild delirium seems to settle on the audience, many of whom seem extremely well-refreshed indeed: when Chic perform Let's Dance, which Rodgers co-wrote with David Bowie, their singing momentarily threatens to drown out the band entirely. After the set's close – a mammoth version of Good Times interpolated with sections of The Sugarhill Gang's Rapper's Delight, with dozens of audience members dancing onstage – the band leave. Rodgers remains, while the PA blares out Daft Punk's Get Lucky. The crowd stay too, bellowing the song back at him. He looks genuinely moved..
