Evil Borty is from an alternate universe in which he is a cloned and altered version of a genius Morty. Borty was also raised by Black Rick (there are conically a set of universes where this is the case). And Black Rick took him under his wing because he saw the benefit of having such a companion as opposed to just an idiot. But the Bortys grew to resent Black Ricks because of their treatment of Bortys, chaos ensued, resulting in the Black Rickocaust.
