After debuting on our label last year with Orange EP, the producer Marcelo Dominguez aka Doguez from Rio delivers an even greater work, filled with catchy melodies combined with different layers of synthesizers that create beautiful soundscapes on the two original tracks, "Flow" and "Shot".
To make this release even more interesting, we invited the Barcelona-born Spanish Main Leaf, creator of the Wood label, to remix “Flow”. By living in one of the key places of dance music in the world, he has a deep and intelligent vision of the clubber culture and knows how to transfer it to his music. Here he bets on closed notes, creating a dark and abstract version for "Flow".

The Scream. A modern being in a moment of deep anguish and existential despair. Painted over a century ago, today more relevant than ever. Pouring the 1893 Edvard Munch masterpiece into the present day through the ancient Ebru art form is one of Turkey’s finest contemporary artists, Garip Ay. Stroke by stroke, touch by touch, delicately manipulating the liquid scene into life as the rhythm builds. The Oud of Özdemir Güz leads the story, supported by a haunting choir that gives voice to those in the distance. The Ney of Burak Malcok cries with the screaming figure before the big reset. Building back from a dark and heavy place, the reassuring beat carries a mysterious atmosphere into melody as the Ney gives a final solo.

Steyoyoke Black finds great pleasure in finding budding talents like Aquiver. The Italian Duo makes their presence known with a cryptic, bold, and powerful 4-track EP, “Something From The Sky”.


The release sets off with the title track “Something From The Sky”. Dynamic, driving and dark, it sets a fiery tone for the EP, highlighted by its mysterious vocal in the breakdown. Its atmospheric bedrock, expressive pads, and galloping low end carry suspense into the tension stirring, equally rapid, second track. “Enjoy The Future” is similarly characterized by a rolling 16th bass, broad trance-esque breakdown pads, and a glitchy electronica arpeggio. “Quiddity”, the third installment, has a lovely vocal chop sequence and a rising pad synth that takes precedence and propels the track forward. “Duality” is the 4th and final track in the release. A constant flow of rising tension through the haunting saturated lead and hypnotic arpeggio, this track is the heaviest and most introspective.


Aquiver’s “Something From The Sky” EP is the epitome of rolling hypnotic techno. Steyoyoke Black is proud to call this duo part of its family. Be prepared for heavy kicks, galloping basslines, weightless breakdowns, and powerful episodic drops. This is a high-octane stunner.

It’s very rare in today's digital age to find an artist that has built a profile for themselves without the backing of any productions. However, for the last 4 years Atish Mehta has been forging a career for himself through only DJing, and a small gig in San Francisco has turned into a musical journey that his seen him play live across the globe. Anyone that has seen Atish live can attest to his natural enthusiasm for music which is only matched by his ability to entertain a dancefloor. His mixes on soundcloud has seen him amass quite a following and the quality of his monthly podcasts has led to his play counters increase from 2000 to around 20 000 plays in no time.

Atish’s natural talent and passion for music haven’t gone unnoticed: Lee Burridge asked Atish to play on the legendary Robot Heart bus sound system at Burning Man in 2011, and Atish has been invited back every year since. He’s also been honored to open for and tag with some of the most respected names in dance music including John Digweed, Danny Howells, Guy Gerber, M.A.N.D.Y., and Tyrant. Currently, Atish is on Listed Bookings’ roster, and he is a resident at Listed’s monthly party, Play, at San Francisco’s world-renowned club, The Endup. He‘s also the resident at the long-running quirky monthly event, Tutu Tuesday..

We are very excited to have Atish mix the latest Balance Selections podcast, and with this mix (as Atish acknowledges) he has shown his appreciation for  various shades house: “With this Balance mix, I touched on some pretty sounds, some deep ones, lushness, a touch of techiness, and a proggy-influenced finish with a hint of epicness (but hopefully not cheesiness).” It took Atish 2 months to put this podcast together and you can definitely hear his attentive approach towards track selection, and how each track compliments the next. A child of the London acid-house explosion, British-born DJ and producer Dave Angel has been responsible for an astonishing amount of music over the years. Dave's journey, since his first foray in production with his 'Nightmare Remix' of Eurythmics' 'Sweet Dreams', has been an enviable one. The son of a jazz musician, Angel's roots are in bebop and modern jazz as much as in the Detroit-styled techno he has famously helped to pioneer.

His back catalogue is littered with singles, EPs and remixes on some of music’s most esteemed record labels that include Polydor/Love, OuterRythm, Fnac, React Records, Island, R+S and Outrage imprints, and now he finds himself launching a new chapter in his career, releasing tracks on Bedrock and Crosstown Rebels.Responsible for the formation of one of the scene's most important imprints, Rotation Records, not only served as a platform for Dave's own exquisite work but was paramount to the beginnings of many careers: Adam Beyer, Christian Smith, Deetron, Vince Watson, Laidback Luke, The Advent, Jamie Anderson, Bryan Zentz, Steve Rachmad and Misstress Barbara amongst many, all cut their earliest grooves on the label and each helped to define Rotation as both a purveyor for new sounds and new talent.

The latest edition of our free download series finds Ezequiel Arias returning for his fifth appearance. Hailing from Cordoba, the Argentinean artist sits amongst progressive music’s elite, with releases on Anjunadeep, Replug, Sudbeat and The Soundgarden highlighting his discography, along with support from the genre’s premiere tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. In past installments of our series Ezequiel has taken to editing and remixing iconic tracks from 16 Bit Lolitas and Active Child. Looking back across electronic music’s history once again, the Cordoba resident now unveils his edit of Sasha’s memorable remix of Unkle’s ‘In A State’. Released in 2003 on Universal Music, before eventually being featured on the first edition of Sasha’s acclaimed ‘Involver’ mix series, the British DJs epic take on the track still resonates strongly today. Now as we kick off a new year in our free download series we’re pleased to present Ezequiel’s fresh update on the track. Finding favour with Hernan Cattaneo, Jody Wisternoff and more, it’s been in demand as a result and we’re happy to offer it as an exclusive free download to you. Enjoy!

Melodic Techno dj/producer Lake Avalon, born in Bogota, Colombia, raised in the Netherlands. He discovered the art of music at a very young age due to his father who played several instruments. Because of that, music always played a big role in his life. Growing up as a teenager he got inspired by the first wave of progressive house acts like Sasha and John Digweed. You can still hear these influences in his own music productions. His sound nowadays can best be described as Melodic Techno.

Lake Avalon played in The Netherlands at events and clubs like DGTL, Pleinvrees, Marktkantine, Click, Nachtcollege, Komm Schon Alter, Now & Wow, Undercurrent, Mystic Garden Festival, Dockyard Festival, Thuishaven, Club Air, Basis and many more. He also covered a lot of clubs around the globe as for example in Germany/Berlin where he played; Wilde Renate, Kater Blau, Sisyphos, Suicide Circus, Kosmonaut and Golden Gate as well as Belgium clubs Club Vaag and Club Labyrinth, Baalsaal Hamburg in Germany, Club Bellevue Zurich plus lots of other gigs around Europe in countries like, Ukraine, France, Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Sweden and also outside Europe in countries like India, Bahamas & USA.

Besides being an experienced performer, he’s also a top notch producer with releases on labels like Anjunabeats, Stil Vor Talent, Parquet, Jeudi Records, Einmusika, Global Underground, Katermukke, Kraftek, Electronique, Kittball.
