DGR Music is an independent music promotion company that has been providing services and support for online/offline press promotion, radio & TV promotion and concert promotion in the Netherlands and Belgium since 2004. Our clients are primarily national and international record companies and labels, management agencies and booking agencies. 

HISTORY
The full name of DGR Music is Dying Giraffe Recordings. The name is based on a quote from the series ‘South Park’ - “Hey, did you hear that? It sounds like a dying giraffe over there” – which refers to any unknown sound. We’ve translated this quote to the music business because, to put it simply, the aim of DGR Music is to bring new music to the attention of the public.

DGR Music was originally an online promotion and distribution platform that was set up with the specific aim of providing talent with a central place where they could distribute their music and share it with others. The platform was internationally successful yet, in spite of that, it was ended when a decision was made to transform DGR Music into a record label. Between 2006 and 2010, there were 50+ releases by Dutch and foreign artists. Due to the generally recognised changes in the way that music is released and distributed, in mid-2010 it was decided to take a new path by slowly but surely phasing out the label and distribution activities and focussing fully on music promotion. Promotion has always been one of DGR Music’s primary activities since its foundation in 2004 and is certainly more relevant than ever at the present time.

PROMOTION 
Promotion options at DGR Music consist of three core activities: online/offline press promotion, radio & TV promotion and concert promotion. In most cases, these are combined into a complete campaign, but they are also regularly deployed separately. Our expertise is mainly in the area of indie-, alternative- and singer-songwriter-related genres.

Online/offline press promotion: Albums, EPs and singles are actively brought to the attention of the traditional music press and leading online magazines and blogs in order to generate as much publicity as possible through reviews, write-ups and interviews.

Radio & TV promotion: Singles and artists are actively brought to the attention of music editors and DJs working for national, regional, local and online radio stations with the aim of obtaining airplay and organising live sessions and interviews.

Concert promotion: Concerts are an important and often underestimated way of promoting artists. They play a major role in disseminating music and in mouth-to-mouth advertising, and are also lucrative in relation to the sale of merchandise. Handy, direct-to-fan tools on our website make it possible to address the right target group, build a fan base for an individual artist, and share relevant information easily with others. We also work closely with venues, set up campaigns, and involve press and radio.

DGR Music has already carried out promo campaigns for many artists. To name but a few, these include Dry The River (UK), James Vincent McMorrow (IRL), Woodkid (FRA), Yann Tiersen (FRA). We Are Augustines (USA), The Asteroids Galaxy Tour (DK), Yukon Blonde (CA), Echo & The Bunnymen (UK), Dead Can Dance (AUS/IRL), k’s Choice (BE), Benjamin Francis Leftwich (UK), Husky (AUS) and Rachel Sermanni (SCO). Dutch artists include Roosbeef, Eefje, Bettie Serveert, Wooden Saints, Avant La Lettre and Most Unpleasant Men.

After 2 years of work and intense collaborations, the new project of our digital label will start: MICROLABEL LTD. The new digital label will use at the best the great resources created and collected by MicroLabel during the years of its net label activity. The label was created in 2007 to spread out experimental electronic culture. MicroLabel gave visibility to small productions and independent producers that agreed to the Creative Commons license. With the help of all the staff this net label has reached the regarding amount of 60.000 download par year and over 100.000 visits in 2008. It is also linked to the major websites for audio social-networking in Europe and was appreciated by the press. MicroLabel has several collaborations with singular artists around the world and other labels that search for quality: Stirsound, Intoxik, Mixotik, Metroline, Loopzilla, Deepindub.
  From june 2009 MicroLabel will also start to distribute musical products charging a fee. It will take strength from the great visibility of the web site. We have in mind a digital label project (MicroLabel LTD) that will not use several distributors: we will not use the common mass distributors like Beatport (that gives none or less visibility inside their infinite catalogue) but create a shop directly on our web page using the myx2u technology.
  Myx2u will be our primary distributor. They already work with labels like Max-Ernst, Karaoke Kalk and Level Records among others. They give you the chance to put your shop inside your website so we can use the over 100.000 fans that come to visit us. Myx2u shares 70% of the profits with the label, contrary than Beatport that makes the opposite. Myx2u handles also all the paperwork for the mechanical rights, so if you are with a collecting rights company such as ascap, gema siae etc. you will get your money directly on your account without having to wait that we do all the hard work (and you know how lazy labels can be). We will also try to be directly on I-Tunes, so we will not loose all the Mac addicts market, even if this will mean to loose some incomes. At the end we will look up for other distribution sites but we will not want to loose tracking of your music and the related incomes. We think that digital releases have a great potential to create incomes for artists and labels and we will try to do our best to achieve our goal. MicroLabel seeks for proposals. It must be a place of participation for electronic music fans and producers. We want to make an efficient on line label that can offer albums and eps with quality. We already collaborate with artist well or less known, some of them we discovered, all of them being part of the great electronic world. We always search for new inputs, to share our space with producers of new sounds that want to distribute music the best way possible. And if all goes as planned we will try to go also on physical supports. Naturally the work of a label is to promote the music. In this field we already have a lot of newspapers supporting us and a mailing list with over 3000 contacts. We are sure that the chain reaction will help us.

The Italian duo She Owl have been enchanting audiences throughout Europe and North America for the last five years. Jolanda Moletta (vocals/piano/percussion) and Demian Endian (guitars) have become known for a truly singular sound and style characterised by dream-pop and dark-indie stylings, otherworldly loops and percussion, psychedelic flourishes, and Moletta's rich, soulful vocals. Shows in support of their most recent release, the EP "Drifters", has seen the group share stages with Brendan Perry and Cat Power, among many others.
