„Odsbodkins!“ schallt es aus Oles Mund, als er Martins neue schmalzige Haarpracht erblickt. Die beiden hatten sich die letzten 5 Jahre eingeschlossen, um an ihrer neuen Platte zu arbeiten und das Ergebnis ist die Monaberry mit der Katalognummer 23. 23? Das kann nur ein gutes Zeichen sein!

Odsbdodkins macht seinem Namen alle Ehre und greift ohne zu fragen die Tanzmuskeln an. Ein grooviges Gitarrenfeuerwerk wird entfacht und erleuchtet die dunklen Tanztempel. Keine Geringeren als Hanne & Lore haben sich dieses Baby zur Brust genommen, um daraus einen Track zum gepflegten Ausrasten zu zaubern. Mit von der Käsehäppchen-Partie sind Frdy und Indimushy. Diese beiden Stücke setzen sich tief im Kleinhirn fest und verlassen dieses nicht so schnell. Frdy bestreitet eher den tooligen Weg der straighten Musikliebhaber und lässt dabei keine Wünsche offen. Um die Platte aber nicht Abdriften zu lassen, fasst sich Indimushy ein Herz und schiebt gewohnt gefühlvoll die Körper zurück auf die Tanzflächen.

It’s always a thrill to welcome back one of the most unique and successful acts in our roster. Berlin based Cord and Sacha, duo also known as Robosonic, have been crafting hip hop and soul infused house jams for OFF Recordings in the last couple of years. 
While staying true to themselves in keeping an undogmatic approach to club music, this sound has become a solid parameter in their energetic DJ performances. We are happy to bring them back with an EP showcasing all of this magic in 3 amazingly engineered tracks. 

On this release with the lucky golden era catalogue number „93“, Robosonic's organic blend of classy house music and classic hiphop goes next level again: New York rap legend Masta Ace, originally part of the famed Juice Crew in the mid-80s (with Marley Marl, Biz Markie, Big Daddy Kane among others!), known for collaborations with artists such as MF Doom, influencing rappers like Eminem, and still now known as one of the realest rappers alive, made a teenage dream come true for Cord when he recorded an original feature part and hook for Robosonic on top of their soulful "Good Old Feel"! A radio cut, boasting the full vocal performance by Masta Ace, is not included in this 3-tracker, but rather saved up for the upcoming Robosonic album. 

“Dedicated” builds on a vinyl from Sacha’s collection – this dirty jacking track is a dancefloor bomb! Uncompromisingly fun to play and dance to, it features a catchy sax lick and hip hop vocal cuts, toying with ghetto snare rolls and punchy drums. A nasty piece of house music that’s hard to forget. 

Finally, “Life Is Like” completes this journey into the golden age of hip hop. Inspired by one of the greatest producers of this era, sample workout and vocal cuts mix perfectly with drum machine beats and bass-heavy drops. There‘s even a crafty shout out to Big L, who used to speak with criminal slang, until the sad day he was shot...

Mallorca’s @kikonavarro is a well-known name in the Balearics, formerly holding down residencies at Pacha Ibiza, Pacha Mallorca and Space Ibiza. As a producer, he’s graced the likes of Local Talk, Yoruba Records, Exploited, Quantize Recordings and Large Records in recent years, blending classic house sounds with Afro and soulful flavours. His new album on BBE Everything Happens For A Reason is a stunner, and its release prompted us to reach out for him for a mix. The result is a hugely enjoyable romp through his infectious sounds, with a healthy dose of his new LP along the way. 
 
*How would you describe your sound?*
 
A variety of colours, flavours and styles which I call HOUSE.
 
*What and who inspires you and influences your sound?* 
 
I have got many influences since I started producing music. One is the beautiful life in Mallorca where I was born and hope to live for the rest of my days. If you want some names obviously my favourites producers have influenced me somehow, but the list is too long to write here!
 
*Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?*
 
I included some of my latest productions, future ones and also all-time favourite remixes and my next singles upcoming from my already released Everything Happens For A Reason album on BBE Music.

As we get closer to our sister label PUZL Records 1 Year Anniversary celebration we couldn’t resist tapping one of their esteemed guests, Daniel Steinberg, to be apart of our mix series this week. A few years back our own MR PUZL came across the Steinberg’s Arms & Legs outfit and since then has championed their sound in his mixes, reviews and sets. Their unique blend of funk, jazz, hip-hop, soul and house coupled with their passion and longstanding presence in the scene has made them staple in DJ sets and radio shows worldwide. Steinberg’s recent collaboration with Oliver Dollar is yet another reflection of the producer’s esteemed career and ability to stay in sync with the constantly evolving landscape of our industry. 

While Daniel Steinberg may not be a household name here in the states (and in the deeply saturated market of Los Angeles even the world’s best and brightest can seemingly go unnoticed) he is certainly an artist we recommend you become familiar with.
