YES! And the 40 days are exactly the same on the Biblical calendar! Goliath began taunting the Israelites on the same day that Jesus was baptized: Elul 1. The clash between the Yahweh/Melchizedek/Jesus figure and the Nachash/Melcherisa/Satan figure (David Goliath in the valley, Jesus and Satan in the wilderness) each happened at the end of the 40th day, the end of the season of Teshuvah - Yom Kippur! (Not to mention syncing perfectly with Moses' ascensions, the spies, and Jonah - all during this same Elul 1 to Ethanim 10 sequence!)

To check the Scriptures - according to Leviticus the Jubilee could only be announced on Yom Kippur, so when Jesus read the Isaiah scroll and announced himself the fulfillment (thus Melchizedek) of Isaiah 61, it had to be on Yom Kippur, or he would have broken Torah. He even bent backwards to the silly inventions of man, one that YHWH must be replaced with ADNY and that if one was to pronounce the Tet. it could only be by the High Priest on the Day of Atonement. Well, guess what? The divine mother Wisdom / Woman Clothed with the Sun / Sun of Righteousness with Healing in Her Wings - Begot Jesus at His baptism as the Son of God, which in 1st Temple Discourse means as a Melchizedek High Priest King! Jesus turned 30 on Ethanim 1 (Yom Teruah) on the 30th day of the 40 days of temptation, fulfilling the requirement for a HP to be 30 years, and on the 40th day - according to Mark, he finished a throne room vision in the Holy of Holies amongst 'the wild beast' ala the Cherubim throne!

Timothy - have you considered this factor - the etymology of Calvary - one usually hears the extrabiblical Jewish legend that Calvary was regarding the head of Adam (where Adam was purportedly buried) - but I see this nowhere in the canon or even the other DSS. I do however note in 1 Samuel 17:54 that David *took Goliath's head to Jerusalem*. Thus we have intertextual evidence that Calvary was called such because it was the skull of Goliath. Tie this in with the Nephilim (not Julian, Cyril or Augustine's later Sons of Seth theory that simply does not hold up, it is because most Reformed leaders cling to Augustine and not the Hebraic Temple worldview of the Bible) with the Philistines originating from Crete - the ground zero of Greek mythology that Peter references in his careful usage of the rare word Tartaros (almost always translated to the generic Hell). Beyond the Nepilim / Mt. Hermon / Yom Kippur narrative one can also be mesmerized - the ROCK sunk into the HEAD of Goliath.

However, the Lord Jesus Christ made clear in Luke 24:44-49 that the Old Testament is mainly about Him and His death and resurrection on our behalf. 

In the first release from his forthcoming album and book "The Unfolding," Timothy Brindle seeks to show how David crushing the head of Goliath is really a vivid picture of the unfolding of the Genesis 3:15 promise, pointing forward to Christ crushing the head of the Serpent, for us!
