This episode, we’re thrilled to welcome Yuka Yu, a San Francisco-based DJ and producer with roots in Taipei, Taiwan. Having honed her craft in London’s Camden Town, Yuka’s sound reflects her multicultural background—Chinese, Dutch, and Japanese—blending diverse influences into deep, immersive storytelling. She’s played EDC Las Vegas, Ministry of Sound, and Jazzfest’s Rabbit Hole, and is the founder of Nu Tekno and Chinatown After Dark, two projects pushing underground sounds in San Francisco’s Chinatown.

For this mix, Yuka crafts an introspective journey through breath, nature, and Asian history, exploring the ritual of self-connection within the universe. It flows through film soundtracks, field recordings, Asian mountain songs, Mandarin pop, and ethereal Southeast Asian modular music, layered with unexpected textures—a touch of “trippy candy” weaving a dreamlike narrative. The mix embodies the feeling of history and memory, inspired by the poem:“I am the ocean of my ancestors’ grief; the shoreline where my parents’ dreams were sacrificed.”

Spring is in the air, the sun is shining, and our guest DJ Vanaenae is bringing the perfect soundtrack to warm your soul. Based in Berlin and known for her deep love of 90s house music, Vanaenae is part of Good2U Festival and has been a driving force in Leipzig’s underground scene through projects like Music of Color and Sunday Love Affair — her event series dedicated to fostering a more sustainable club culture for BIPoC and FLINTA communities.

In this mix, Vanaenae highlights Asian producers, with a special focus on Southeast Asia — featuring artists like Gato Latex (Indonesia), Sarayu (Thailand), Xiaolin (China), and rising talents from the Philippines. She starts softly, guiding us through ambient soundscapes and modern takes on kulintang gongs, before blooming into the heart of what Vanaenae loves most: soulful, groovy house. Her sound — constantly evolving — blends second-hand treasures, deep cuts, and uplifting beats, creating a journey that’s as rich and vibrant as the season itself.

This month, we’re joined by Manila Spice — a UK-raised, half-Filipino DJ based in Amsterdam. A residency with Defusedmood—one of Southeast Asia’s key D&B collectives—shaped his tactile mixing style, rooted in sharp percussion and experimental bass. He is a co-founder of Loma Sound, a platform that hosts non-profit events and channels surplus funds to grassroots organizations, charities, and initiatives supporting music, arts, and culture. Projects supported include Boardersnotborders, Wayoutarts, Embracenederland, Musikarama, and Stichtingdevrolijkheid.
 
In this mix, Manila Spice draws from long summer weekends spent in Pu Luong—where thick forest and still air meet the buzz of motorbikes and the distant crackle of karaoke at night. It’s a place caught between pause and progress, and for him, a place of quiet reflection. Field recordings and ambient textures sit alongside breaks and percussion, echoing the tension between natural calm and rapid change. The mix moves between states—holding both tension and release—mirroring a landscape, and a headspace, in transition.

Episode 6 is here for a listen! This one’s curated by LAN the Wireless — the initiator of the series. This is a gentle, introspective mix to welcome summer. It drifts through ambient textures, Chinese classical, ‘70s pop, and some experimental gems, all loosely held together by a feeling of ease and nostalgia.Some of the tracks bring me back to my childhood — like the sound of the rare 朱鹮 (crested ibis) in a beautiful piece by Heiyuen, or the unexpected sampling of the eye protection routine (眼保健操) most of Chinese kids used to follow in schools. It's playful, a little strange, and full of personal memories — a soft soundtrack for slowing down and delving in.

Mix Description:
This month’s episode is an unusual one—not a regular DJ mix, curated by LAN The Wireless. Instead of electronic tracks, LAN reached out to a few friends with Asian heritage and asked them to share one or two songs that mean something to them—songs tied to memories of home, family, growing up, or just moments that stayed with them.

What came back was beautiful and unexpected: heartfelt ballads, film soundtracks, folk harmonies, karaoke classics, and a few wild gems that only make sense if you were there. It’s less about mixing and more about listening—like sitting around trading stories through music.
A quiet reminder that no matter where we’re from, we’re all connected as human beings through sound and memory. Hope we as human beings can find more common ground than our differences—one song at a time.

For the 8th episode, we are delighted to have this month’s guest, Nadoe (a.k.a. Tørnadøe), a multidisciplinary artist and composer based in Amsterdam. Their work explores the physical and mental boundaries of perception and identity, focusing on dynamics at the thresholds of sonic experience. Through sound, they ignite aesthetic listening and altered perception, inviting audiences into resonant, shifting states of awareness.

In this episode, we’re delighted to have Garam Masala — a Pakistani, Texas-raised, Amsterdam-based DJ who dives deep into pulsating grooves and atmospheric soundscapes. Known for his Masala Mixtapes radio show on Bucharest’s Black Rhino Radio, and for sets across Amsterdam’s clubs and raves, his sound is all about exploring rhythm, bass, and the subtle manipulations of kicks and sub-frequencies that transcend boundaries.For this mix, Garam Masala blends nostalgia with discovery. The opening tunes are tracks he grew up with — melodies that shaped the way he still absorbs grooves today. As the set unfolds, contemporary voices come forward, moving through Pakistani rock, house, and ambient textures.
