The aim of this set is to create a soundscape that merges dubstep’s raw textures and broken beats with the wild, organic energy of the jungle, forming a juxtaposition between city life and nature. It’s about blurring the lines between the two, crafting the kind of music I love to listen to while navigating Berlin’s urban landscape. Unlike my usual techno sets, this mix leans into atmosphere and mood, exploring a broader range of environments rather than focusing on the technical side. I hope you enjoy the journey.

I loved Jungle and DnB since I was a teenager. After a long journey through House and Techno I had a surprising b2b set with the godfather of DnB - Sir Goldie, about 8-9 years ago. We almost didn't played any electronic music that night, but the meeting inspired me to start digging bass music again. As I’m expected to play house and techno on my shows - with such and open format as Upperberry. I saw the chance to show my other passion. There is no deep philosophy behind this mix, just music I dance to, sometimes with hands in the air, sometimes eyes closed.

Upperberry | Volpe

Born and raised in Rome, Luigi Tozzi is undoubtedly one of the most prolific and outstanding talents of his generation to come out of Italy. Slip into any record store worth its salt, or clubs from Tbilisi to Lisbon and you’ll find traces of his work there; his signature sound has sold its share of records true, but also deeply influenced the work of many of his contemporaries. His expansive compositions intimately tied to the space they’re heard in, circling in perfect arcs below the water’s surface, where sunlight becomes scarce and a connection with sound paramount. Reformulating not only dub. techno and ambient, but a trove of memories diving off the coast of Sicily’s neighbour Salina (and with the help of analog digital tools, VSTs and controllers during live performances), Tozzi has developed a mastery for hypnotic rhythms like nothing you’ve heard before. His close working relationship with Swedish output Hypnus, as well as Outis and Non-Series have pushed his aquatic sound to it’s absolute limit, creating a world of poignant textures that have given his genre the gift of new horizons. Here he visits the Podcast for an epic 128 minutes that delve into his abyssal world, haunting rumbles and immersive techno, a ghostly, shimmering live-set recorded at Bassiani.
