Alunawachuma DJ Mix recorded at "Celaya Brothers Gallery, Mexico City", for Carlito Dalceggios Exhibition on 25th February 2016. Contains elements of Carlitos Freedom Temple Manifesto Alunawachuma arrangement with the voice of Sahar Farmanfarmaian, Golshifteh Farahani, Lilaya Jun and  contains elemnets of Mercandede and Tabula Rasa.  African song "Sangoma" by Alunawachuma with the the voices of Madosini.  Poetry of Carlito Dalceggio performed by Golshifteh Farahani.  Also included, themes from Bolero Symphony,(unknown orchestra), tribal screams and shouts and devotional chants from around the world.

Esta propuesta contiene una narrativa con un personaje que viaja en una nave por territorios cósmicos.

Los sonidos utilizados conforman una experiencia sensorial para el personaje y transforma el espacio en diferentes ambientes. Las sonoridades de instrumentos precolombinos se alinean en patrones musicales contemporáneos y autóctonos, para formar ritmos más trabajados hasta lograr una descomposición en un sonido cotidiano.

Es por esto que la propuesta experimenta ese limbo, desde lo cotidiano en su nivel más sencillo, hasta las mezclas que surgen entre sonidos de la memoria y sus nuevos usos en industrias sonoras

It took us some time to upload the next mix in The First Days of the New Year - series. We are stuck in paradise these days. Surrounded by lush jungle sounds and beach waves. 

But we managed. And thankfully.

Before you is the mix created by Martin Marquez. If you come across Martin in your life, you can count that as a blessing. This beautiful man is such an add to any room with his energy and being.

The set is created with so much love for our family. As you listen, you can imagine immediately the thought behind it. Time to fall in love with his selection and story of tracks.

The first days of the new year - #5 Martin Marquez

Barra Funda is something of a homecoming for Brazilian producer Spaniol. The EP takes inspiration from the neighbourhood (barra funda) in São Paulo where Spaniol (Felipe Torquato) grew up as a kid and rediscovered when coming back from a long year touring around the world. 

The music is inspired by Felipe’s walks down the streets of the neighbourhood, originally known for its community of Spanish immigrants, going to the local park, Agua Branca, or visiting the neighbourhood’s numerous strange bars.

Opener Moinho is the name of a favela in Barra Funda where, over the past year there have been increasing confrontations between the local community and the police. In February 2017 Felipe met a young kid called Everson while working on the soundtrack for a public theatre piece. The two bonded over their love of rap and poetry and the result is this heady mix of baile funk, deep-dark, organic electronica and Everson’s gravely rap verses.

The EP closes with epic instrumental Asturias, which features guitars played by Felipe (one of the first real pieces he learnt) and is a homage to the producer’s own Spanish heritage.

Agua Branca takes its name, and its inspiration, from a park just two blocks down from where Felipe lives and where he used to play as a kid. Today it has been transformed with an incredible café and has become a nature reserve.

Sale de Baile featuring Tugce & Cosmic e Damiao is a nod to the old-style saloons.

Lavradio is the name of Felipe’s street in Barra Funda and was written alongside Agustin (Barrio Lindo) when he stayed at Spaniol’s place. Agustín was one of Felipe’s first contacts in the scene and the two have built up a close relationship over the years.

Producer, Luthier and Co-Founder of Shika Shika Collective, Barrio Lindo is a well know name in the Southamerican new wave, and his work is an encounter between southamerican traditional music and downtempo electronics full of organic sound, traditional instruments and colorful soundscapes. Arpeggios, melodies and groovy drums fill this landscape across the Andes mountains and the afro tropical heritage of South America.

This Equinox March Full Moon  is brought to you by Racha Coco. Just like the connections among the biomes in Brazil, Racha Coco is the blend in between the organic and the synthetized. Influenced by this tropical scenario, the Brazilian DJ/Producer from Santos seeds around cities and jungles for the most popular classics of Brazilian music to the world. At the Carnival land, the mix of different cultures also reverberated into music, creating a singular diversity of musical styles, instruments and rhythms. Through a cosmic journey, melodies of South American forests, percussions, basses, leads, ethnic instruments and voices align together in a psychedelic tuning that might take the listener to another state of mind.
