"Parisian producer Fluid Matter (Fka Soft Matter) has joined the Simply Deep family for their 32nd EP release and their final Digital Only release for some time. Back in 2019 when Aerotonin visited Paris he saw firsthand all the musical talent that was harbored, artists such as Flore, Alt, Fechos, Background, SNKLS and the man in question Fluid Matter. It became clear that a release was in order.

Fluid Matter’s style is hard to pinpoint, it lies somewhere between Techno, Breaks, Dubstep and the UK 130BPM sound we always struggle so hard to cohesively title. Blending these various genres between 126 and 137BPM region Fluid Matter emerges with his own dark twist on Bass Music.

‘Loss’ features addictive Synth work alongside rolling percussion panned to perfection, ‘Dance With Demons’ focuses on cut-up breaks, stabbing bass notes and twinkling keys, similar to what you would expect from Tessela or Special Request with a more minimalistic approach. We arrive at ‘Midnight Dip’ which subtly takes different approach with more UK Funky influence but still on a dark flex. We finish the release with a remix from another Paris resident Solma, his acid-like reimagining of ‘Midnight Dip’ is a solid 10/10, Solma adds new layers of tension and texture to the track without losing Fluid Matter’s original vision.

It is a pleasure to host this EP from Fluid Matter, truly he is such a creative individual worthy of your attention – one of the many talents lurking in Paris.

Originally this EP was destined for Blackfox Records but tragically Lorant the head of the label had passed away, Lorant had a keen ear for musical talent, he was always enthusiastic about upcoming releases and a pleasure to talk to. We hope we can give this EP as much love as he would have, sending all our love and thoughts to his family and friends."

Kid Kun - Freak out with Me

For the 14th edition of Mysteriae, we invited a very exciting local DJ: Dilla! His sets are appreciated for their versatility and depth, which he once again showcases for our series. Learning the craft from some of the most relevant DJs of this moment, he is best described as drawing from mellow house flavors, spacey electro elements merged with vibrant breakbeat rhythms, dictating the pace like only he can. Words are rarely enough, however, and this is definitely one you need to hear in order to truly grasp it.

Chincy was made on a kitchen table using an Akai MPC3000, Moog Sub37 and a Korg Minilogue for hardware; plugged into a Midas Venice mixer, Crane Song STC-1, Thermionic Culture Rooster and Focusrite pre-amps for recording. Vocals by Chicago. Subs by car system tests. 808 by 808. Fingers by Landstrumm.

The tracks are live jams but they aren’t that cheap to make. No hunching over a computer for weeks on end. One take, one mistake. Just jamming on gear after listening to Mantronix , Dre’s The Chronic and many many UK hardcore records. Pizza Pie on speed dial and Mr X for nighttime sessions for added UK swagger. Recorded in a forest with a swampy back garden. 145 is the common thread of ‘Chincy’ and ‘Eighty Four’ with a 160 diversion for equal measure on ‘Cutlass’.

Techno is colourful.

We are LAPS Recordings, a young, growing Techno Label from Germany! The name "LAPS" is an acronym containing the initials of our 4 founding members. At the same time it highlights the concept of time, which is a topic all our productions will revolve around! 

Coming from very different musical backgrounds, the core substance of our label sound revolves around dark, energetic and emotional melodies, forceful kickdrums and driving basslines. Those main topics reappear in all of our productions, but so do the individual tastes of all founding members.

This lead to the creation of 3 main categories in our labelsound:
🟥 Energetic/PeakTime/Driving, 🟦 Melodic Techno/Deep House and ⬛️ Dark-/Hard-/Acid-Techno are differenciated by their covers.
