Twelve years have passed since eedl released their masterpiece “Everse” [spa.RK, 2007] and in that time the duo -formed by Miguel Ángel Martínez and Joan Duat- have shied away from the spotlight and stage. Despite this apparent lethargy, their previous two works - "Parallemped EP" [spa.RK, 2003] and the aforementioned "Everse"- provided them with cult national scene status, while raising more than a few eyebrows among European “headz”. Both works continue to sound overwhelmingly modern and undated, an obvious signal that eedl is a special breed of cutting edge electronic music.

Although creatively silent for a number of years they have remained musically active. As well as his career as a product designer, Miguel Ángel has applied his musical experience to the technology sector, and since 2016 has fully immersed himself in “modular”–Winter Modular, Befaco, Plankton Electronics and Patching Panda–; Meanwhile, Joan, office programmer and classically trained pianist, has found his equilibrium with work and building a family life.

"Unstored" is their long awaited return to the fray and their second studio album. It is comprised of eight songs, some of which have been have been slow cooked since 2002, with others gestating more recently. Maybe such a long hiatus seems excessive, but the meticulousness nature and obsessive love for detail found in "Unstored" more than justifies the wait, which at times felt like a long goodbye. This collection of songs navigates between perfectionist electronica, new generation electro, noisy harmonies, glitch and deconstructed rhythms; a sonic memoire with strong roots in British experimental electronic music -reminiscent of Autechre or Plaid-, another reason in understanding the longing produced by their extended absence.

It is therefore with great honour that in early January 2020, Lapsus will release the new album from the elusive eedl project in a luxury edition format.

Suction Records welcomes Roger Semsroth back to the label - having previously released 2 full-length albums with us under his retired electro-pop alias, Skanfrom. “Grøndal” (suction051) is the debut vinyl release under a new alias, Nordvest. These days, Semsroth is best-known for his stark and minimalist techno project, Sleeparchive. The material on Grøndal - icy, melodic, and mostly beatless - is comprised of tracks that were originally released digitally as Sleeparchive, via Bandcamp. The releases were met with general disinterest from Sleeparchive fans, prompting Semsroth to re-brand them as Nordvest, before removing them from Bandcamp altogether.

We’ve chosen 11 highlights from 3 of those digital albums, “Rooftops & Chaotic Streets”, “Scribbles”, and “Sleepless”, for a cohesive 11-track LP of austere, synthetic ambience. Think Tangerine Dream as reinterpreted by Incunabula-era Autechre, and you might be getting somewhere close. While “Rooftops & Chaotic Streets Seven” recalls Sleeparchive, and “Sleepless Six” could very well be a lost Skanfrom track, the rest of the LP clearly warrants a new alias - Nordvest is a new side of Semsroth that we haven’t heard before.

Antonino Modica is a Berlin-based sound artist and performer from Italy. During the last few years in the German capital his research and practice shifted towards electroacoustic performance and installation work, exploring the liminal spaces between noise and tonality, extreme texture and microsound, and complex sonic ecosystem involving feedback and chaotic behaviours. 

Antonino’s moniker traumesser is born as a result of various club-related influences, ranging from atmospheric and organic downtempo beats to faster and more invasive dancefloor hitters, with the aim of creating a dynamic and enveloping sonic experience. In Berlin he usually can be spotted in many ravey club nights at Saule, Berghain's most experimental venue. 

During quarantine, Antonino has been involved in recording and publishing an experimental/ambient podcast which has been a great challenge and an expansion of his musical research and interests. 

Currently involved in a MA focussed on Sound Studies at UDK, traumesser has an extremely uncommon approach to djing. An incredible ability to find connections in dissonant sounds is a distinctive touch of Antonino’s mixes who has been experimenting for years creating mixes in many different genres. 

traumesser’s mix is a constant state of restlessness. A tsunami wave that changes intensity and power, starting at a slow pace, then turning out to be destructive, till the end, when it finally grabs the listeners out of its hardcore intensity and cradles them to a much more safe harbour. 

A complex ecosystem of rhythms, genres and dynamics, with just a common factor: UK sounds and bass which are the sometimes recognizable and sometimes faded footsteps in the mix, a curious and engaging game of treasure hunt while the songs play.

A narrative that tells a lot about traumesser’s identity and concept. A mix built for being listened more than danced, vibed more than played in the background.

Following two duo releases on Le Cabanon Records (Crypto Tropic & Othello Aubern), French composer and producer Nebulo (Thomas Pujols) now presents his album ​Parallaxes​, the second installment of our Albe series.


Parallaxes was written for the most part in the spring of 2018. Acting as a prequel to the EP ​Ascii Snake released in June 2019 on Conditional, it is a consequence of ​Zellige​, released three years earlier on Phinery. These records are collections of polyrhythms and ritornellos of dramatic efficiency as much as they are an exploration of electronic tones. The phrase “music written for synthesizers” makes a lot of sense here.

This new chapter takes a final step in confirming an aesthetic turning point in Nebulo’s career, in which his polyphonic style, entirely concentrated on synthesised timbres (​Parallaxes’ only sound sources), reaches maturity.

By blowing life into these coarse and glittering materials, Nebulo reveals with great ease both their emotional potential and their profound tranquility. The composer expresses himself within the slightest shades and accents of the inner life of his constructions, with that global sense that is the science of melody, thus satisfying both fans of sonic spontaneity and those more attuned to an art of nuances. Thus, the sounds are sculpted, twisted, deconstructed and recomposed to form rhythms and melodies that are free in each of their movements.

Having already begun to work on the friction between the harmony and dissonance on his previous releases, Thomas Pujols takes things a step further with ​Parallaxes​. Here, he takes to microtonality and other scales of pitch that escape the norms of equal temperament. The repetitions and motifs he uses balance the soundscape by facilitating the reading of melodic variations that do not fit within our usual patterns. These two seemingly contradictory directions maintain a sensation of blurriness as to the chain of events, as well as to the vanishing point towards which each composition leans. Thus, repeated listenings of the record will necessarily lead to a new angle of approach each time, allowing the listener to access the sonic picture in its entirety, and ultimately make the image clear.

The question of multiplicity is precisely the central theme of this work, wherein every change of position regarding one same object, one same point of attraction, results in the birth of a new entity. As we move from track to track, each layer of sound is often the mirror of another, near or far. In their construction, in their existence, their interactions and sometimes even in their absence, the sounds weave a subterfuge that we must dispel in order to truly explore it. Nebulo draws a narrative pattern designed to disorientate, both a mirage and a tangible phenomenon, that changes in the midst of our perception.
