“The Star” draws inspiration from the reversed interpretation of the Star tarot card, which symbolises lost hope, self-doubt, despair, and disconnection. The track explores these themes with purpose—both musically and conceptually—while still leaving a flicker of light at the end of the tunnel. Anchored by a haunting vocal, the opening sets the tone with an eerie sense of vulnerability and unease, yet subtly alludes at the possibility of redemption, staying true to the dual nature of the card.

The first drop strikes with Magnetude’s signature call-and-response lead work, intricately layered with soaring synths and dynamic phrasing. As the arrangement unfolds, a dramatic classical switch reshapes the atmosphere, momentarily suspending the intensity before diving back into the track’s central motif. Austrian-German trio Nowhere, Nightsub & Klinac make their debut on Hoofbeats Music with a track that’s as emotionally rich as it is rhythmically daring. “All Mine” is a beautifully fractured piece of melodic drum & bass that blends intricate, broken percussion with lush harmonies and a haunting vocal hook that lingers long after the final beat.

From the opening pads to the final fade-out, the track builds a cinematic atmosphere—ethereal yet grounded, intimate yet expansive. The vocal refrain “all mine” floats like a memory through shimmering synths and layered textures, while the drums twist and turn in unexpected ways, creating a groove that’s both hypnotic and unpredictable. It’s a track that doesn’t follow the rules—it rewrites them with elegance.

Behind the production are three rising names from the Central European underground. Klinac, hailing from Austria, forges his sound in the shadows of the underground dancefloor—focusing not only on neurofunk, but on deeper rhythmic tensions and emotive textures. His club-tested sensibility is the backbone of the track. Nightsub, based in Germany, brings an ear for subtle detail and melodic depth that shines through in every shimmering passage. The ghost ship emerged from the fog bank with an unnerving silence, gliding atop the waves despite its tattered mainsails lying slackened and unfilled by the utter lack of wind. Atop its deck shimmered brief silhouettes enshrouded in mist, marked only momentarily by the silvery light of the moon. The vessel’s movement was slow and looked as though it had been scuttled, yet it cut through the waters with a purposeful heading rather than an aimless drift. Somewhere, something unseen guided the craft, captained by a mind with no body, a ship sailing under the flag of no nation.

Though dilapidated and beset by barnacles on all sides with its hull pockmarked by cannonfire, the ship sailed onwards, led by the ornamented and iron wrought ram that marked its prow. Rusted and worn down in the course of countless engagements, the great ram still cleaved through the seas with ease, the evidence of its many conquests now etched into its very form. It was this singular feature that had given the ship its name, a moniker whispered by living sailors in hushed tones for fear of invoking the ghost ship's terrible ire. The HULLBREAKER sailed for but one remaining purpose - to drag other ships beneath the waves to where the bodies of its original crew still lay.

AL/SO makes his EATBRAIN debut with HULLBREAKER, a four-track EP that further features Transforma & Tengu and sees the Dutch artist sail to the fore of the EATBRAIN horde to captain the latest release under the label’s unmistakable banner.
