Release Info: 
Motek Music's next release comes from Canada and artists Larose and Josef. Larose has been a regular Motek member from his time living in London and now having moved back home to Montreal has teamed up with Josef for this bold and punchy EP 'Light / Gate'. 'Light', the darker of the two has strong driving bass tones and an industrial feel within the synth sounds, whilst detuning vocals provide focal points and weight to the production. 'Gate' has a strong presence but with a lighter feel than 'Light'. More air in the string synths and guitar add space and a layer of atmosphere as syncopation in the snare and percussion create elements to grab on and dance too. The track is finished and given its forward pushing feel with a pulsing 16th note lead.

Remixing on this release we welcome Barber and Bonaca. Having had Barber as part of lineups on past events, we are very happy to welcome him to the label with his take on 'Light.' He has kept the track dark but added crisp and sharp beats sections intertwined with the space within the bass to give the music bounce. A rich production full of builds and intrigue with subtle fills and tricks to add to the depth and quality. Finally Bonaca has delivered a hypnotic version of 'Light'. Mysterious bell sounds move over warm low and high pads to create the foundation to which hints of the original come though. Strong driving bass lines along with the subtle rise and fall in the arrangement keep the track strong for the dance floor.

For 8day label’s launch we’re thrilled to present Van Did’s debut album “Avenir”, a detailed musical journey, three years in the making.

Each track tells a different story, listening to the album, you may feel like traveling or watching a movie. “Avenir” means horizon, future, perspective in french, most track have a hidden meaning on different languages.

The album combines hypnotic grooves and colourful sounds, with tracks like "Nijko" which would fit in mixes of a number of techno and house DJ, as well as cinematic electronic tracks.

Larose is a Montreal-based electronic music artist whose career took off during his three-year stay in London, UK, where he was a resident DJ and a member of the Motek Music label. In addition to having played big crowds in renowned London venues, Larose has played alongside well established artists in the electronic music scene such as Slam, Simon Baker, My Favorite Robot, just to name a few. His quick ascent led him to perform guest mixes for DJ Mag HQ Sessions and State London Radio Show as well as being invited to play at Gottwood Festival in Wales. Always challenging himself, Larose quickly learned how to produce electronic music and perfected his technique at Point Blank Music School in London. His skills led him to quickly release his first remix on Unrivaled Music in 2012, followed by a remix of Max Belobrov’s song Wanna Dance on Motek Music in 2014, and the song Toxique by Charlene Blanchette in 2015. Larose has also been asked to create musical arrangements for Nelski and the Hornman band with whom he has performed at the Buddhafield Festival in Somerset.

Now that he moved back to Montreal, Larose aspires to revolutionize what it means to do a live performance in today’s electronic music industry. Throughout his early career in London, he realised that technology, allowing for the creation of complex electronic compositions, usually prevents artists to play their music live. Formed by a great number of elements, these musical arrangements cannot be reproduced on stage. The audience in turn does not experience live music anymore, but rather pre-made music. Through his art, Larose wants to overcome those barriers and offer a real live performance to his fans.
