Niki Sadeki is a self-taught, high-spirited creative, emboldened by the ideas, minds and sounds scattered in her midst. At the core of it all, a desire to connect people – be it through rhythm, events, or materializing projects. Whether DJ, radio host, event organizer, label collaborator, curator and producer, Niki moves along with spontaneity, and a get things done ethos.  
As a DJ, she’s gradually amplified a signature sound fluidly grounded in deep, progressive, up and downtempo ranges. What carries her sets has less to do with genre and more to do with isolating a mood, and building up different currents around it. Her love for selecting and spreading these moods has seen her found Deep House Vancouver, join the Quetame label ranks, host the Allure show on Frisky Radio, and produce sets for channels around the world, sprinkling the pages of United We Stream, trndmsk, Deep House London and Balance Series. Niki also curates Souq Record’s glistening annual compilation, Mirror for the Sun.
From her days expressing herself on the guitar, raiding her parents’ records, and exploring the worlds of grunge, jazz or psychedelic rock, and traditional Persian music, she’s carried over the knack for complementing dark and light frequencies, gliding in between without shying away from diving in. 
Niki travels with a spring in her steps, leaving her mark at spaces like Fusion Festival, Kater Blau, Village Underground London, Shelter Amsterdam, Woomoon Ibiza and Storytellers Tulum, The Cityfox Experience, Do Not Sit on the Furniture, and regularly at Gorg-O-Mish in her native Vancouver, where mountains, ocean and city converge. Her down to earth and steady love for sound has shaped a willingness to always adapt to the situation at hand, making the best out of it on a musical and a human level.

Milo Häfliger — Somewhere in Nowhere

This week Basel’s Don Son takes you on a mind-opening journey with his spectacular cup of Ayahuasca!

Rooted in Bucharest, Romania, raised in Germany and now based in Basel, Don Son has grown under a massive musical influence since he was born. 

His first appearance in the electronic scene was 2014 together with his friend Ioanis, under the alias Ioanis & Don Son. Today their duo project is named Ωpαl. Deepness, spheric atmospheres and melodic music since then is Don Son’s signature style. 

Don Son’s productions have been released on imprints such as Magician on Duty, Submarine Vibes, Rebellion der Träumer as well as on his own imprint Wildfang Music.

Wildfang Music is co-managed with, guess who, Ioanis! In 2016 Don Son launched Mehrvondenteilen, a channel hosting podcasts, premieres and free downloads of likeminded artists. 

Don Son’s a trough-and-through storyteller: he mesmerizes with magic and spheres, expressed through his music. And as a laboratory professional he know exactly how to mix a magic potio...! So, get comfy and enjoy this fantastic and deep journey with his Ayhuasca!

On a beautiful and sunny autumn day, I've had the pleasure to open Mystic Forest Festival and be part of a fantastic line up, alongside some of my favorite artists, who have inspired me so much throughout this musical path I'm walking. This event was organized by Mystic Tales in collaboration with BeYond and Fernab, and the organizers were very careful with the current corona regulations.

As the leafs fall and winter approaches, we are invited to let go of what's not essential in our lives and to focus on what sustain and nourishes our beings. Music has always been one of these essential things that nourishes my soul. So, even though we don't know how this corona winter is gonna be like, this set was intended to help us keep our dreams alive and warmly embrace them while we go through it.

Back on Track

Endlich ist es wieder soweit. Nach einer gefühlten Ewigkeit gehen meine Freunde und ich mal wieder in einen Club. Schon im Eingangsbereich sehe ich bekannte Gesichter und alte Freunde. Man begrüßt sich herzlich, nimmt sich in den Arm oder kloppt sich freundschaftlich auf die Schulter. Dann heißt ab in die Schlange und warten. Nach einem kurzen Wortwechsel mit den Türstehern geht es direkt auf den Dancefloor. Begleitet vom Bass, sowie blitzenden und bunten Lichtern, bahne ich mir meinen Weg durch die tanzende Menge. An der Bar bestelle ich ein Bier. Dann mache ich mich auf ins Getümmel. Leicht einen im Tee, vollkommen glücklich und zufrieden, gebe ich mich der Musik hin. Der hypnotische 4/4 Takt zieht mich in seinen magischen Bahn und ich vergesse die Welt um mich herum. Jetzt gibt es nur noch die Musik, die anderen Tänzer & mich. Jemand tippt mir auf die Schulter. Er lacht mich freundlich an und wir gehen eine Zigarette rauchen. Währenddessen wummert der Bass von drüben zu uns rüber. Ich genieße es einfach wieder auf einer Party zu sein. Diese Momente sind so kostbar und unersetzlich. 

Heute ist Genii auf KataHaifisch mit einem Podcast zu Gast. Ihr Set ist unkonventionell und lässt sich schwer zuordnen. Zu abstrakt für eine Schublade, einfach ein erquickendes Unikat. An diesem Vizefreitag Gedenken wir der guten alten Zeit. Wir erinnern uns mit Freude und auch ein wenig schwermütig, an die Tage zurück, wo wir unbeschwert feiern und tanzen konnten.
