The original track 'Only You' by Yazoo (or Yaz, if you're in North America) is known to be produced by Vince Clarke using only a Sequential Pro-One mono synthesizer. I have recreated the track using 10 instances of U-He RePro-1. All sounds, with the exception of the 808 snare, comes from the RePro-1 alone and no external effects or modulation are used.

There's a limiter on the Master Out with a tiny amount of tape saturation.

So  recently posted up on my facebook the song from the Dead Island trailer. Anyway, so the original song by Giles Lamb is already beautiful enough, so I decided to take the chance to make it a lil' more uplifting and um.......I dunno what other word could describe it....just happier. Anyway, the trailer itself is beautiful. So this piece took me only last night and today. I wanted to stick to the original beginning but then afterwards take it into a J Scott Rakozy kind of direction. Thus it was super awesome and I knew this was exactly how I wanted the piece to go with the triumphant horns, the banging of the drums, the sense of being sent free, liberated and what not. So another influence with this piece was actually from Danny Elfman's work off "Real Steel" the very ending after the major box fight, so the use of the drums with orchestration was what made it into this piece. So using EWQL Symphonic Gold and Storm Drum 2 this is what you can create. The piano was the only thing from the Logic Pro library and also the guitar. Habe 2004 damit beim Intro Song Contest gewonnen - Text war vorgegeben - Länge max. 90 Sekunden.
Hier mal eine Meinung von der Jury (Sony BMG):
"Das ist es!!! Dieser Song trifft genau meinen Geschmack. Er groovt, rockt und bleibt hängen. Sehr schönes Keyboard-Intro und eine super Produktion. Die Drums sind klar und machen Druck. Die Stimme erinnert mich an Heppner und ich finde, der Gesang ist wirklich gelungen. Also wenn ich in einer Plattenfirma arbeiten würde, würde ich Lars glatt unter Vertrag nehmen (ups, ich arbeite ja in einer Plattenfirma, allerdings im Family Entertainment Bereich und da nimmt man keine Rockmusiker unter Vertrag). Trotzdem, davon will ich eine Single Version hören, so ca. 3 - 4 Minuten lang. Jetzt sagen bestimmt wieder die anderen Jurymitglieder: "Das passt aber doch nicht so richtig als Drei ??? Titelmelodie". Wisst ihr was, ist mir doch egal. Ich würde diesen Song trotzdem nehmen und zwar als Anfangs- und Schlussmelodie!"
