Having recently relocated to Vancouver in the name of continuing our rhythmic voyage, we at XVI are pleased to bring you the first offering from London-based beatsmith "Munro". First up is BYOG (Crown Heights), a summery hip hop infused , uptempo head nodder. Featuring an abstract but undeniably addictive baseline, and driving, crisp drum pattern, completed with rich golden analogue textures  . On the flip side, SIBWIR is a deep, slow-mo chugger. It's uplifting chord pattern and spine tingling vocals provide an absolute summertime treat, perfect for hazy beach sessions.

POOLS, the moniker of Los Angeles duo Thee Mike B and DJ Morsecode, craft a sound that conjures up the easy going swagger and soulful grit of the left-most coast. The “Under the Covers” EP is a collaborative project started by David Marston and Brigitte Zozula. During an impromptu rehearsal session, David and Brigitte decided to record reinterpretations of songs they had previously written and performed together. 
The material on the EP consists of a rework of “Pussy”, originally written by Marston and Nick Monaco, “Trust Me”, written and composed by Marston and Zozula, and lastly, a song inspired by an African Soul ballad. The music fuses elements of Disco, RnB, Reggae, Dub, Jazz, and Latin music

We are more thrilled to welcome the mighty Thievery Corporation.

Taken from their highly acclaimed album Radio Retaliation which was originally released on their label ESL, El Pueblo Unido gets the remix treatment courtesy of Miguel Migs who delivers some creatively thoughtful reinterpretations of the song.

With plenty of live instrumentation including a healthy dose of layered percussion and a smooth horn riff, warm synth chords and deep bouncing basslines are all showcased here along with cut-up and dubbed out vocal snippets for a balance of depth and dimension.

High level production values, steady grooves, complex yet subtle arrangements and well crafted musicianship are all featured here in this lovely package.
