Seraphine Collective will be a collaborative female-operated multi-purpose music space in Detroit.

Seraphine Collective began as a blog project that features individual profiles of female musicians currently making music in Detroit, Michigan, with hopes of educating, inspiring, and encouraging both current and future musicians. The profiles are developed from one-on-one interviews conducted by Lauren Harroun.

Seraphine Collective will soon be a collaborative female owned and operated music space in Southwest Detroit, designed to create a safe, active and supportive community for female musicians. We will provide opportunities for women and girls to learn and connect through music, as well as cultivate the presence of women in Detroit's rich and diverse music history.

We will repurpose a vacant building as an engaging platform for collaborating, networking and showcasing local, national and international talent by hosting performances, workshops, conferences and festivals. The Collective will include a performance venue, recording studio, record label, rehearsal studios, lessons, classes, and a resource library of publications, records, instruments and equipment.

By providing infrastructure and resources for a fun creative learning environment, and by setting an example as women working collaboratively in leadership positions, we’ll make a significant and lasting impact on the lives of those involved and the broader music scene.

The group of amazing women currently involved in this project includes: Cait Ash, Dina Bankole, Colette Czarnecki, Emily Gustafson, Lauren Harroun, Augusta Morrison, Erin Norris and Rachel Thompson.
