About Rural Beats
Rural Beats is the new EP that consists of 4 tracks by The Peronists that sound like a ﬁne mix of Argentine folkore, lo-ﬁ hip hop, downtempo, rural environments, electronic and organic electronic music.
Cumbia Andina (Rural Beats focus track) is a collaboration between Argentine producers The Peronists (Fede Randall) and Chancha Via Circuito (Pedro Canale).
Both producers have been part of the Argentine collective and label ZZK Records at the beginning of the millennium (since 2006) at an early age and both have shared their tracks in various compilations referring to the new sound of Argentine folktronics: ZZK Sound Vol. 1 and ZZK Sound Vol. 2 (ZZK Records, Argentina) and The Future Sound of Buenos Aires (Waxploitation, USA) and Nueva Cumbia Argentina - The Buenos Aires Implosion! (Soot Records, USA).

About The Peronists
From the age of 13 he began to ask his family to help him become a musician, since he had an obsession with sound and radio, he does not know very well where that concern came from, but it was always there and is still latent. His goals are to leave a mark of innovation in new urban genres, in stagnant and forgotten folk genres and make people dance as a producer and DJ, and make the listener have a good time.
Among his outstanding experiences are his participation in the Red Bull Music Academy in New York in 2013 where he took masterclasses among others, with Brian Eno. He released his music on labels such as ZZK Records, Desmo Records and Folcore Records. He currently works in sound design, composing and producing beats for the Red Bull Batalla de Gallos and for his personal music projects.

Cumbia Andina (focus track de Rural Beats) es una colaboración entre los productores argentinos The Peronists (Fede Randall) y Chancha Via Circuito (Pedro Canale).
Ambos productores han formado parte del colectivo y sello argentino ZZK Records a principios del milenio (desde 2006) en su temprana edad y ambos han compartido sus tracks en varias compilaciones referentes del nuevo sonido de la folktrónica de Argentina: ZZK Sound Vol. 1 y ZZK Sound Vol. 2 (ZZK Records, Argentina) y The Future Sound of Buenos Aires (Waxploitation, USA) y Nueva Cumbia Argentina - The Buenos Aires Implosion! Acerca de The Peronists
Desde los 13 años que comenzó a pedirle a su familia que le ayuden a ser músico, ya que tenía obsesión con el sonido y la radio, no sabe muy bien de dónde vino esa inquietud, pero siempre estuvo ahí y aún está latente. Sus  objetivos son dejar una huella de innovación en géneros urbanos nuevos, en géneros folklóricos estancados y olvidados y hacer bailar a las personas como productor y DJ, y hacer pasar un buen rato al oyente.
Entre sus experiencias destacadas ﬁguran su participación en la Red Bull Music Academy de New York en 2013 donde tomó masterclasses entre otros, con Brian Eno. Publicó su música en sellos como ZZK Records, Desmo Records y Folcore Records. Actualmente trabaja en diseño de sonido, compone y produce beats para la Batalla de Gallos de Red Bull y para sus proyectos musicales personales.

En la mitología folclore de Argentina, Sacháyoj es un protector de la naturaleza, el Señor del Bosque, impone castigos a toda persona que quiere destruirla.

Wonderwheel mainstay Chancha Via Circuito (aka Pedro Canale) introduces his fifth full-length with its first single, “El pavo real,” featuring the Meridian Brothers (aka Eblis Álvarez). Cutting his teeth early at Buenos Aires’s legendary ZZK digital cumbia parties, Chancha became known worldwide as the originator of the cumbia-inspired electronic music that takes cues from environmental sounds and South American folkloric traditions. Pedro’s musical progeny include names such as Nicola Cruz, El Búho, Dengue Dengue Dengue, King Coya and more.

“El pavo real” (or “the peacock” in English) is rooted in the now-familiar chug-chug of a dembow beat, made increasingly complex with the addition of further polyrhythmic percussion; the main melodic motif is initially played on a buzzy synth - a sonic prelude to the accompanying strings that join later in the song - adding yet another layer. It’s in this layering that Pedro’s true mastery shines: If one tries to isolate the individual sounds and rhythms, the incredible complexity is apparent, and yet, taken as a whole, everything melts together in a seamless sway of movement and melody. 

Providing vocals is Eblis Álvarez, the academy-trained Colombian singer-songwriter & multi-instrumentalist of the acclaimed Meridian Brothers (really more of a solo project than a band, as the moniker might suggest). Alvarez, recently hailed in a longform article by the New York Times, sings about the titular peacock in lilting Spanish, at times stretching out the vowels in question. It’s the perfect addition to an already great song, and the collaboration of two of Latin America’s foremost innovative artists places “El pavo real” in rarified air.

“El pavo real” is out on Brooklyn’s Wonderwheel Recordings September 30th, 2022, with an album to follow later in the Fall.

Chancha Via Circuito - El pavo real (feat. Meridian Brothers)

Argentinian artist Lagartijeando's ground breaking LP "La Tercera Vision" gets the remix treatment featuring some of the brightest up and coming producers from Latin America and beyond. Wonderwheel family member Gitkin delivers a piece of psych'd out guitar centered dub on "Onda", while label founder Nickodemus takes "La Cumbia de la Muerte" into hip-hop territory with all the Cumbia trimmings riding the beat. Tonga Conga (aka 1/2 of Sotomayor) delivers a killer analog Afrobeat remix of "Sideral Cumbia" with a drumbreak that could have come from Tony Allen, while Joaquin Cornejo goes into deep, ambient house territory with hints of the original Arabic vibe on "Mano de Fatima". More deep & dancefloor remixes from Barzo, Yemanjo, J.Pool and Palka & Melina on deck. A lovely listen front to back. 

Lagartijeando: Raised on rhythms of the Argentinian backwoods, Matias Zundel dips his dance tracks in country folk gold where chacareras, huaynos, and vidalas two step with jungle and electronica. Shaman chantand charango guitar loops are the backbone of Lagartijeando’s signature style. Native voices are the backbeat to percussion and bass tracks with organ melodies combining cumbia and psychedelic noise. Songs give deference to ritual and maintain respect for tradition while pushing the old into a cosmic space future. Step onto the Lagartijeando dance floor – a desert covered in a storm of stars.

Barda ingresa en el universo Fértil y se despacha con 7 temas de alto vuelo en un álbum titulado ’Gruta’. Manteniendo aproximaciones minimalistas Cecilia Gebhard nos invita a un viaje mental por las cavernas y los escenarios argentinos, en donde el güiro de la cumbia se conjuga con los cordones montañosos, las cuerdas del ukelele se mezclan con los sonidos percusivos latinoamericanos y la poesía y voz de la cantante Wenceslada se inmiscuyen en el mundo de la canción. Mención aparte merece el sonido del Didgeridoo, ejecutado por Yoco Perez de Arce, abriendo el disco y generando una atmósfera oscuramente enérgica, íntima y a la vez rabiosa. Llegando al final, el laberinto de la gruta se abre hacia caminos divergentes en el tema tripartito titulado ‘Prismas en la Montaña’ y SidiRum, otro de los nuevos talentos argentinos, ofrece su remix de Núcleo lleno de luz diurna, sonidos profundos, envolventes y una bocanada de aire fresco.

Barda enters Fértil's musical universe and puts out seven top-nocht tracks in an album entitled 'Gruta'. Keeping a minimalist approach over danceable beats, Cecilia Gebhard invites us to a mental journey through Argentinian fictional caverns and stages, where the güiro combines cumbia with mountain ranges, where ukulele strings are mixed with Latin percussive sounds as the poetry and voice of the singer WENCESLADA meddle in the nu-folk song world in 'Nudo de un Árbol'. Special mention deserves the sound of the didgeridoo executed by Yoco Perez de Arce, at the beginning of the LP,  generating a darkly energetic, furious yet intimate atmosphere. Near the end of 'Gruta', the labyrinth of the fictional cave opens onto divergent paths in the tripartite track entitled 'Prisms on the Mountain' and SidiRum, another new Argentinean talents, offers its 'Núcleo' remix with luminous, deep, surround sounds, a breath of fresh air.
