The brand new show of Russian psytrance master Fungus Funk is coming to get you this Thursday 17th July, 8pm CET as next installment of our Psylife Series on the Trance channel. In The Dark #3, the nightpsy frenzy is here!
Fungus Funk aka Sergey Prilepa, the legendary Russian psytrance artist began writing psychedelic tunes right before the Millenium and started to release the first Fungus Funk tracks in 2001 on record labels like Acidance Records, Discovalley or Crystal Matrix and many others. His famous debut album called "F People" came out on Acidance in 2006 overflowing with groovy baselines, aggressive synths, warm melodies and those signature psychedelic atmospheres you can still experience on every Fungus Funk release ever since, be it an own composition or a remix made for a fellow musician. The second full-length Fungus Funk album found his home at half Russian, half Australian label Blitz Music, where Sergey released his third and last album to date as well in 2010 called "Electric Grooves". The original Fungus Funk sound always keeps a masterful balance of complex textures and arrangements that lead the listener through a deep and interesting journey of that hazy period of time between the psychedelic night and morning. These days Fungus Funk is busy working on the material of his forthcoming new studio album and interesting side-projects such as releasing under the name Astroff or collaborating with fellow psytrance musicians like Para Halu.

SI-MOON VS. CHIPE - SUMMER IN THE HILLS (OUT NOW ON BEATPORT)

Containing nearly all the tracks played throughout my 2016 season in Asia, the outcome of my latest freestyle session is like rocket fuel mixed with high grade Acid. It took me a while to record this new mix, but here it is. It was inspired by underground gatherings in the Malaysian jungle, Chinese meadows, the floating villages and bamboo forests of Thailand as well as clandestine clubs in Japan.

The outcome is a far different style than what I play in Europe: it pays respect to the intoxicating, overwhelming vibe of the East.  No breaks. Not suitable for a lazy Sunday. Definitely suitable for your own private stomp, after which you will probably need a shower... :) Have an exceptional mind-bending journey through this psychedelic jungle experience! When your heart is in the right place, rhythm shall follow. And this path is a journey of discovering your inner groove. Reshef Harari from Israel, began this trip when he became 15 and started to be fascinated with experimenting with sounds. Not long after, Reshef started to collect vinyl and practiced on turntables, he would play the records all day, enchanted by the groove and curious to know where they can take him.

The dancefloor was the next place to explore, so at the age of 17 he started to DJ at various parties where he could absorb and tune his skills of feeling the crowd. Another huge impact on his creation was the minimal Trance wave of that time with artists such as XV Kilist, Bitmonks and Paste, which inspired his deep crunchy tone.

The doors of perception to the world of Psytrance were first opened through his brother Rahav and one of Israel’s Psytrance pioneers Asher Haviv, who took him deep into this rabbit hole. Reshef got a job in a sound company, learning the process of compressing and EQing on analogue gear from scratch. After playing in underground parties, in 2003 he met Avi Nini, the owner of Domo records, and started DJing as part of that label. That same year he also founded the project Quantize together with Adi Ashkenazi. The duo released music at various labels, and their debut album Time in 2009 on Iboga records. After 7 years of collaboration, in 2010 they went their separate ways.

It was then time to wear the captain’s hat. Keeping his close ties with Iboga, Reshef started to remix, testing his interpretation to older tunes, while at the same time collaborating with his heroes back then who gave him inspiration. Popularity sparked with his debut album Human Design, released in 2011, which took him on an expedition across the world for the next 3 years. This album was a mile stone in his career, where he collaborated with Ace Ventura, Liquid Soul, Perfect Stranger, Loud, Tetrameth Freedom Fighters and ill.Gates, while giving each track a unique sound design, texture and colour.

Travelling across the world and performing at festivals expanded his artistic horizons, and filled his mind body and soul with new energy sources. While on the road he was working for 2 years on a double remix album Akashic Library, hand picking the finest most unique pieces of music and released it in late 2013. At the moment he is collecting material for a new album, but the best way to understand the essence of the music is to tune into the frequency and feel the pulse of the Hook.

Kilian Horvath & Ramon Rocchinotti are XV Kilist & Rocco. Having known each other since they were able to walk and talk , they began dj-ing in the late 90's. It was clear from the outset that making their own music would be the ultimate goal of that project.

Just in time for the end of the millennium Kilian released his first 12" vinyl as XV Kilist on Spiral Trax International, followed by two albums and many singles on various labels. A year later the guys decided to consolidate into a dj/producer team touring around the globe.

Their style is hard to describe; while it is a crossbreed of different genres and influences that change with every production, it remains always danceable, fresh'n funky, with the goal to touch people and to provide us all with a good time on the dancefloor.
