Easel Practice 7 - 12 - 22

A team of experts, including scientists and musicians, has created a new way to explore the images and data from the NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope. The first two tracks map the prismatic landscapes of the Cosmic Cliffs in the Carina Nebula as well as two views of the Southern Ring Nebula. A third track plays the notes of a transmission spectrum, which graphs the atmospheric characteristics of hot gas giant exoplanet WASP-96 b. All allow listeners to pick out key features and experience the data in a new way.

Music’s everywhere:
the sea, the wind, the rain, the
storm, the raging fire.

Isabel del Rio is a British-Spanish poet, author and linguist. Born in Madrid, she has lived in London most of her life.

She writes and has published poetry and fiction in both English and Spanish. She is a great admirer of Japanese poetic forms, and her poetry is as concise and intense as her preferred composition, the haiku 5-7-5.

Her poetry collections include Madrid Madrid Madrid, Dolorem Ipsum, and Cuaderno de notas. Her most recent fiction includes Paradise & Hell, A Woman Alone: fragments of a memoir, and La autora del fin del mundo.

She has worked as a full-time broadcaster and journalist for the BBC World Service, and as a full-time translator and terminologist for a London-based UN agency. She is currently studying for a PhD in Creative Writing.

Last Days' (AKA Graham Richardson) music explores personal themes of stasis and flux, escape and acceptance. Growing up in Northumberland (UK), Richardson pursued music sporadically, before shifting his focus to study graphic design. In February 2006 he was discovered by the n5MD imprint, resulting in the release of Last Days debut album Sea shortly after.
With an approach both abstract and melodic, lo-fi and hi-tech, and despite its largely digital origins, Last Days' music sounds all-together human - n5MD
