Near the tail end of 2022, Colorado-based @motifvmusic and @late-night-radio hit the studio together in a collaborative exploration of mutual inspiration, crafting a number of tracks - the first of which, “Hold On”, is streaming now on all platforms.

For most any listener, the shared influences of gospel, soul, and hip-hop progressions are immediately apparent in the artists’ collaborations. Described by Late Night Radio and Motifv as a “track that makes you want to hug yourself,  “Hold On” serves as a hopeful, meditative reprise for the listener, a time to reflect and find solace in our fortitude when life is overcast and rumbles of thunder resound in our minds.

Discovering the Frost Bloom requires a communion with the ancient spirits that guard the mystical Swomp. ‘Behind the Moon’ stands as a reflective companion to 'Where the Sun Sets', encapsulating both a conclusion and a beginning of a new Motifv chapter. While building on the themes present in Where the Sun Sets, this EP delves deeper into introspection and explores the moments of solitude and contemplation we all face. Echoing the natural phenomenon of the total solar eclipse occurring on April 8th, this companion EP explores the metaphorical interplay of light and shadow in our lives. During an eclipse, the moon obscures the sun, casting a shadow that envelops us in a momentary darkness—a powerful reminder for us of the cycles of hiding and revelation. Where the Sun Sets / Behind the Moon represent a unified journey through self-discovery and evolution, inspired by the worldwide experience of transition soon taking place above.

Biography

A path can be interpreted as a road, sidewalk, any physical thing that carries us in our direction. Or it can be something internal, like the electrical pathways in our mind that form thought, emotion, and embody the inner workings of human sense and experience. motifv is a young artist from Colorado driven by an inner call to sonically express and share his path to the world.

Known to friends and family as Joseph Kechter, motifv creates beautifully blunted beats that meander between futuristic synthesis and collages of gospel soul. He chases light anywhere that it may lead and leaves refreshing vibrations in his wake. In an effort to ask questions that inspire and have answers that resonate in resolve, motifv looks to the sun moon and stars for guidance.

"All The Pretty Lights" - Features 24 of the original samples featured in 16 different Pretty Lights songs. None of the PL songs themselves were touched or used to create this flip. The track was all recreated/remixed using the original breaks that Pretty Lights featured in his own tracks.

I wanted to create something fresh that honored his music in a tasteful but new way, while highlighting some of my favorite songs of his, through the breaks he dug up and used.
