ROYCE are the new team up of Nicolas Masson, label and event manager of PALM OFF, and June One from Glen Check. Together they produce Nu Disco and organise monthly parties at CAKESHOP. We met the two super nice gentlemen on a warm Indian summer evening in a small café in Hongdae.

GOLMOKGIL Mixtape #22 - Royce

Our next edit isn't really an edit at all, but, on account of its glitzy disco and 70s funk vibes, we're giving it honorary status as one.

The story behind it is good. House of Spirits, a.k.a. Tom Noble, a friend and fellow producer from NYC, released the track on Tim Sweeney's Beats in Space, back in May. Before he shared it with Tim, he tested it out at gigs, as any self-respecting DJ should, and also asked LPH's very own Jacques to take a swing at remixing it, which he did. For the BIS record, Tom and Tim grabbed Aaron Coyes of Peaking Lights to do a B-side dub and J.R.'s version was all but forgotten. 

Until, that is, the LPH co-head was organizing some folders on his Mac and stumbled upon the file, which was caked in a layer of e-dust. He started inserting it into his sets once again and eventually sent it over to his partner, Nik Mercer, to suggest it be released as the next installment of the LPH download series. Nik enthusiastically said yes... and then Tom and Tim followed suit, so, finally, today, we find ourselves here, sharing a lovely piece of work with you that could've slipped into obscurity if it wasn't for Jacques' diligent housekeeping.

When I was asked to remix a track for the album release 'Night Dubbing II' I jumped at the chance. 
Imagination have always been one of my favourite bands. I love all of their LPs, especially the original 'Night Dubbing' released in 1983 (the year I started DJ-ing).
'Changes' was the stand out track for me, and it was an absolute pleasure remixing it.

I first met my soulful stellarsonic "Partner In Chime" (Soulpersona) back in 2006 when I was studying A Bachelor Of Popular Music Degree in my Honours year at Griffith University on Australia's Gold Coast. He found me through Myspace and thought my style was "off the chain" so he sent over a track for me to give a geeze that was to become the saucy slow-steppin' "Candy Wrapper". After he'd heard it, loved it, and wanted to continue this international digital dalliance, our creative collaborations expanded into a full-blown MUSEical relationship that would see me transfer to UKingdom's shores to further pursue my career... and to meet Soulpersona for the very first time, 5 years later!

I hope you enjoy pepper-peeping these as much as I thoroughly revelled in co-birthing them. The fated collision of Freesh and SoulP was destined to change my life forever, in only the HOXXXIEST ways! :)
