Danish four-piece, Yung, announce their international debut EP, Alter, with single ‘Nobody Cares’ - a brash and persuasive slice of Nordic punk, with a rare sense of rhythm and melody bands that recalls the Replacements, Jay Retard and Ty Segall. Alter is released on March 2nd through Tough Love Records on limited edition 12" vinyl and digital formats. Formed in the summer of 2013 by 20 year old frontman Mikkel Holm Silkjær (guitar, vocals) in  the north of Aarhus - Denmark’s second largest city and what locals would say, the current punk rock capital - along with friends Frederik Nybo Veile (drums), Tobias Guldborg Tarp (bass) and Emil Zethsen (guitar), Yung have spent the past year building up a formidable live reputation in their native Denmark. As their name would suggest, Yung play with a youthful exuberance and feverish energy that leaves little room to catch your breath. 

Growing out of Mikkel’s teenage dreams and the harsh reality of what is the everyday life of young adulthood, Alter serves both as a vehicle for and an escape from the bewildered frustration of having to deal with life’s treadmill - trying to find a tolerable and  meaningful place in the world, whilst wasting time at useless jobs in order to enjoy whatever little freedom that’s left; to hang out with friends and, first and foremost, devote his time to music. It's no coincidence that Alter was written and recorded just two months after the band formed - there's an urgency here, and that primacy is self-evident in their music. 

Kicking in with a shrill guitar duel, lead single ‘Nobody Cares’ soon flourishes into a bouyant rhythm section. It’s all a trick of the light, however - the true abrasive face of the track revealing itself in a snarl of punk-rock euphoria and burnt-out vocals. It’s a track that veers between images of wide-eyed beachside holidays and a tortured desert wilderness, and it’s all the more gripping for its polarity. As such, it's the perfect introduction to Alter - and Yung - as a whole.

Autumn 2014, Liima spent 7 days in Berlin writing five new songs, which they premiered at a private gathering at the local Vox-Ton studio on November 5th.

Terry is getting ready, combing his hair, buttoning his jacket, turning the key in the door. “I’m doing fine” sings Terry out loud, he knows. Divide him into four and you get Al Montfort (UV Race, Total Control, Dick Diver etc.), Amy Hill (Constant Mongrel, School Of Radiant Living), Xanthe Waite (Mick Harvey Band) and Zephyr Pavey (Eastlink, Total Control, Russell Street Bombings). Inevitably, Terry likes to make a noise. Drums, guitars and all his voices come into play, making a solid raft for Terry’s melancholic musings to navigate the languid rapids. This all unravels at its own pace, conducting a conversation with the commonplace. ‘Talk About Terry’ marks the band’s first venture into the recorded domain collecting together three of the greatest misshapen glam pop tunes Melbourne, Australia has to offer. Let’s sit up at the table. Let’s start the dialogue now, as Terry is well on his way.

The topic of the song is the unemployment office at Mågevej and the women’s march on Versailles in 1789. The album will be released in the beginning of November on ELEKTROLYT.
