This is one of the finest pieces of music ever written. It's very cinematic and I was kinda bored on a friday night, so I decided to just make my own version of it.
It's featuring the Minimoog model D, which has some trouble staying in tune, especially on the high notes. The Juno-60 on the chords. I ran the last half of it through this old tape deck, so you kinda get this rough tape hiss and distortion. 
I was kinda inspired by this arrangement of another song.

2013 Resident Mix of the Year goes to 'Coldcut meets The Orb - The Return Trip', which was the first show to properly kick off our 25th Anniversary year..............

Recorded on the anniversary of JFK's assassination and 21 years after their historic '92 New Year mix on Kiss 100 FM, Coldcut meets The Orb inna Uptown Youth House for the Return Trip. Matt Black and Jonathan More alongside studio accomplice Dor Wand got suitably enhanced with Dr LX Paterson and Youth for a multi-player late night jam session lasting over 3 hours. They then entrusted the multitracks of the set to DJ Food who heroically edited, condensed and massaged the sprawling swamp of sound into a tight - but also loose - 2 hour Solid Steel session.

Swimming through the mix are Lee Perry, Killing Joke, Sun Ra, William Burroughs, Teebs, Ry Cooder, Actress, Prince Jammy, Iggy Pop, Monty Python, Hank Williams and Hal 9000. Alongside unreleased dubs from the players themselves, remixes and versions of tunes old and new, the complete track listing for this marathon set may never be fullly disclosed. It's 2 hours, 10 minutes of sonic secrets to melt your mind, probably best listened to in headphones late at night with all suitable facilities for the full effect. Enjoy this trip.

***This came out before web reviews, however, IMHO, it's one of the most badass and technically accomplished mixes of its time.

The pic is an actual scan, the Cream logo is embossed and the light gold and gray print doesn't show up very well, but it's Cream for  sure... :-)

Solid Steel in association with Serato (24th April) This week we launch a brand new Solid Steel website at http://solidsteel.net and we're delighted to welcome back two guests Caribou and Colleen with exclusive new mixes to celebrate. They both appeared in the same show 10 years ago and on the new website you can hear their 2005 mixes in the Featured section, along with Caribou’s mix from 2000 when he was still known as Manitoba. Press play and suddenly life somehow feels so much better. The sun is shining because it always does round here. In your mind, you are roller-skating down Venice Beach, the breeze gently kissing your blonde hair. You live in an apartment up in Laurel Canyon. Life has never been better. 

Although California plays an obvious role, it's not just the Pacific Coast representing here. We've got some Scots, a Yorkshireman, some Brummies; but as the saying goes "When the legend becomes fact, print the legend." 

This legend has been compiled with some love by Tom Findlay from Groove Armada. As part of Groove Armada, he's had Grammy-nominated singles ('Superstylin'), and started the Lovebox festival in London. With Tim Hutton he's one half of Sugar Daddy who are responsible for the rather tasty cover of Ace's 'How Long' here. 

Also present and correct are The Steve Miller Band with 'Fly Like An Eagle', 'Work To Do' by Average White Band, Michael McDonald weighs in with 'I Keep Forgettin'', while there's room for a special Balearic edit of 10cc's 'I'm Not In Love'. 

The summer's coming and Music For Pleasure has merely accelerated its arrival. Let your hair down. Slip on your blue jeans and cowboy shirt. Make yourself at home by the pool. Shake up a cocktail and stick this on the sound system. Lay back and think of Laurel Canyon.
