Flash Zero is a Spanish EBM/Synth Pop project, so don’t be mislead by the trancy title.
I picked this record at 'Recycled Music Center' Calle de la Palma, Nº 34 in Madrid, so I bought it where that music happened. DJ F hosts a lot of the music of the so called early 90s 'Bacalao' scene of Valencia (kind of the Spanish New Beat wave). This music and the shop strangely features lots of German Records by the likes of  Torsten Fenslau or Talla 2XLC.

The cover of ‚Trans-Mission’ features flashy pantone colors on a silver print. Very matching artwork, indeed.
However Flash Zero seems to be one of those mediocre Atari based productions.
And even my editing couldn’t really disperse the cheesy (late 80s Italo), hectic, strenous feeling throughout the track. They definitively should have saved the rim and sometimes there are two! staccato kickdrums at the same time EQed and panned differently - but still without success.
I changed the original beat intro with a more stakkato loop from the back of the track to emphasize the percussive feeling and cut vocals as I usually do.

Make up your mind on that one! And no matter what follow me and let me know if you also favour the cover to the record itself!

Czech label Markham Road Records comes in correct with a first release in the form of a nine track VA spined by frequent collaborators of their sister platform @infameradio. This track from Berlin based producer FM Pause - @fmpause drives home a percussive club-ready energy fit for any head banging occasion. Dropping October 5th, the whole VA will be available for purchase via Bandcamp or for streaming via Soundcloud.

"The first release from Markham Road comes in the form of a VA spined by frequent collaborators of its sister platform Infame Radio. The consequent nine tracks vary along a scale of percussive rhythms both relating to established and experimental ideas. As a trial in itself, this project took shape through exponential conversations between all those creatively involved. All tracks are written and mixed by each respective artist."

And now Carl Suspect, co-label boss and sonic agitator, is opening up the archive and piecing together something raw, urgent and unfiltered. “14 Years of Uncanny Valley” is a journey through the dark corridors of house, jazz-funk, Italo, ambient and techno - an uncompromising, sweaty ride that feels less like a retrospective and more like a battle cry. And it's all on cassette, because fuck your algorithm-friendly playlists.

This isn't nostalgia. This isn't a victory lap. It's proof that Uncanny Valley still doesn't play by the rules. Carl Suspect puts it on cassette - the rest is noise.

The Brvtalist is a writer, promoter and DJ with a focus on mutant metropolitan culture. Since 2013, the platform of the same name has featured, collaborated and/or performed with a variety of artists across multiple disciplines including Julius (JP), Void Vision, Drab Majesty, Katie Gallagher, Söderberg, Ancient Methods, Ayarcana, VTSS, Silent Servant, SPFDJ and more.
