Genius Loci is a recurring cassette compilation celebrating songwriting as art. Each volume sends a package out in the mail to a group of songwriters. The package consists of a piece of inspiration (poems, photos, paintings, etc) and a rule (for volume one: all the lyrics must be written before a single note of music). Each artist receives the same prompt.

The summer 2015 edition takes inspiration from the poetry of Frank Stanford, and features musicians such as: Gabriel Birnbaum (Wilder Maker, Debo Band), Felicia Douglass (Ava Luna, Gemma) Cassandra Jenkins, Jonah Furman (Krill), Nick Jost (Wilder Maker, Baroness), David Lackner (Galtta Tapes, The Phantom Family Halo), LAUDS, Katie Von Schleicher, Will Stratton, Tiny Hazard, Workman Song, & Renata Zeiguer (Cantina).

Darcey Leonard is a singer, performance artist, DJ, and palm reader living in Brooklyn. She is the founder of the House of Screwball as well as Tarot Society. Since 1998, she has been an essential part of the music scene as an "empressario" in Boston, LA and Brooklyn, where she nurtured many aspiring artists. She is now debuting her personal music project, "Songs for the Spirits" in which she vocally composes and performs her own work a capella. Darcey is also working in collaboration with Australian composer/arranger, Andrew Dalziell (Night Tongue)on an upcoming release with string arrangements.
