Stars Tonight

An early ‘gift’ for our Facebook friends. My husband Len, sister Jennifer, cousin Clod, and I are in the process of recording a CD for our dear Selma Basle and her sisters. Selma, as many of you may know, has been diagnosed with a brain tumour. Making a CD of favorite songs is something our Basle have made numerous requests for – and, until now - it was something we always only talked about. 

Many of the songs we’re recording are songs we sang back in our Diene years - on long road trips, tedious Gma Orbit, and around camp fires. Out on the Mira, a Celtic tune, was a favorite, which any Fairholme Dien (of my generation) will know by heart. However, it’s been many months and years since we’ve sung these songs together, and getting practice sessions in, when you’re a busy parent and miles apart, is next to impossible. So we knew going into this project, our songs would be far from perfect – but they would, nonetheless, be valued, appreciated and enjoyed by our family and friends, and most especially our Basle. 

We couldn’t have started this venture without the expertise of Marcus from Baker – who, from the very beginning, eagerly agreed to be our recorder. His enthusiasm, patience and professionalism made him super easy to work with from the get-go – and we look forward to more sessions!

Out On The Mira

Len, Jennifer, Clod, and I are finally releasing our CD: "Here Comes That Rainbow Again." 

The completion of this project was a typical Hutterish, communal effort – the labour of many willing, giving and tireless hands. Our product is better because of you and we were blessed to work with everyone who volunteered to be part of this wonderful venture!

We dedicate this CD to our Basle. Most especially our dear Selma Basl.
