This mixtape features (mostly) Sundanese psychedelic pop music recorded during the 1970s when the Suharto military dictatorship ruled Indonesia. These recordings were chosen due to their signature sound in which haunting and darkly psychedelic notes mingle strangely with endearing girl pop vibes to create an unusual, intense and suspenseful atmosphere.

This show was created to tautoko the exhibition of the Stitching Solidarity — Artists for Palestine Quilt at the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery between 31 March—6 April, as part of its tour to art galleries across Aotearoa. 

Stitching Solidarity brings together contributions from artists across Aotearoa in an offering of solidarity with the people of Palestine. The quilt captures an expression of outrage at the ongoing violence in Gaza and the West Bank, and hope for a future built on justice and self-determination.

Visit the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery and witness the artistry and solidarity inherent in the piece, on display from 31 March—6 April.
