The Essential Mix is a weekly radio show on BBC Radio 1 currently broadcast between 0:00 - 2:00 AM UK time on Saturday morning. Originally broadcast on 30 October 1993, the Essential Mix features contemporary DJs and music producers of electronic dance music. The show has been presented since its inception by Pete Tong and features an uninterrupted two-hour mix from a different artist each week, overlaid with occasional continuity announcements delivered by Tong. With a broadcast run in excess of 25 years, the Essential Mix is one of the longest-running programmes in the current BBC Radio 1 schedule, and is one of very few Radio 1 shows which is not broadcast live.

Pilar Jordan is a Chilean-born, Berlin-based House Music DJ. Since 2022, DJing has become a central passion in her life, driving her to explore the latest house tracks, dig into classics, and build an impressive record collection.

With the launch of the SHINE A LIGHT party series and the founding of FLINTA*CLUB DECK, she has made a significant impact on the club scene, promoting empowerment and inclusivity.

Pilar's sets are characterized by driving basslines, sharp hi-hats, and soothing melodies. Her mixes pay tribute to timeless vocal divas as a form of female empowerment while highlighting emerging producers.

In this mix, inspired by her idol Cinthie, Pilar evokes a sultry, darkroom atmosphere. She transforms spatial and sonic perceptions through acapella voids, rhythmic cuts, and powerful messages, bringing deep, sassy energy to the dance floor.

Now lot of people don’t like Mondays and we think thats fair enough; going back to work feeling a decade older after a heavy weekend spent making memories with friends can be a chore for even for the most optimistic of us as we trudge back in to the daily grind. Fear not this week though as our favorite type of Monday, Acid Mondays are on hand to help stave off those post weekend blues today with an exclusive mix for us here at DT.

Formed somewhere in the 5th dimension, Acid Mondays is the cosmic coalition of fellow psychonauts Negghead and Lex Wolf. Brought together by their love for fat beats, inter dimensional travel & cups of tea; they are on a never-ending journey exploring inner and outer space.

Expect altered states of hallucinogenic house and reality bending techno. It would be a cliché to say they have a great future, but they’ve been there and beyond and have returned to the NOW to do it all again. They recently put out a string of exciting releases on labels such as Warp, Rockets & Ponies, ONE Records, & Last Night On Earth. They were also asked to remix Lakker’s ‘Milch’ for the legendary R&S Records. That and their remixes of Mood 2 Swing on King Street received big support all summer from Marco Carola, Seth Troxler, The Martinez Bros, George Fitzgerald, & D’julz to name a few.
