Mention the word “trance” to most people and it will conjure images of superclub bombast, extravagant laser shows and DJs with their hands held aloft for minutes on end. To John 00 Fleming, however, the word means something different. Something altogether deeper, darker, more hypnotic. Something… entrancing. As a key proponent of trance music since the genre’s inception at the dawn of the 1990s, John has watched the music go through many changes, but he has never lost sight of the original underground ethos. With the release of his second artist album One Hundred Ten WKO on March 4, 2013, John is about to send out a timely reminder that trance is something you can truly get lost in, at home and on the dancefloor.

One Hundred Ten WKO can only be described as a journey: both a musical journey for the listener and a personal journey for John as he has pushed the boundaries of his hard-edged club sound into the realms of experimentation. As track titles such as 'Star Gazing,' 'Pillars of Creation,' and 'Colliding Galaxies,' suggest, One Hundred Ten WKO is a voyage into deep space. The universe and its awe-inspiring beauty has long been a signature destination of trance, and John taps into the same star kissed beauty that burns within transcendental genre classics like Dance 2 Trance's seminal "We Came In Peace" and Cosmic Baby's " Space Track". Cascading melodies flow like solar tides across basslines glittering in the light of distant stars, while breakbeat glitch edits are executed with the precision of orbital docking manoeuvres. 

An album John has promised to himself for years, One Hundred Ten WKO is masterfully crafted with the obsession of someone working on the opus of his career. A session at London's famed Abbey Road studio resulted in pianos and strings melding seamlessly with John's iconic electronic glitches and synths. Inspiration was found on dark, underground dance floors around the world, and midnight oils were burnt brainstorming with like-minded producers and devotees of the pure trance sound. All this effort has resulted in an album that shuns any commercialised urge to produce cookie-cutter music for the masses. This is an album for the devoted listener who understands the roots and the essence of trance. 

"With this album, I really wanted to prove that the old form of trance has survived and is moving forward," says John. "People have been saying 'trance is dead' for years now but to me, it's never looked more alive and vibrant." 

Following the release of his debut artist album Nine Lives in August 2011, John switched his focus to scoring for major network TV and films. His work has featured in the soundtracks to shows on BBC, Fox, and NBC and in films released by Universal, Warner, Sony and others. Diversifying his talents into the soundtrack world, John honed a separate facet of his artistic identity, and gave himself the freedom to focus on his sophomore album when the time came.

2013 will also see the launch of the J00F Music Group, bringing together like-minded artists and DJs from labels such as Platipus, Mistiquemusic, Baroque, Renaissance and John' own J00F Records imprint, with the aim of creating a unified platform from which to launch the next wave of deep space expeditions into the serious side of trance and progressive. With underground resistance gathering momentum, the future looks bright for this sleeper movement of contemporary club culture. 

"At the end of 2011, I was disgruntled with commercial intrusion into the electronic world. I felt the spirit of what made the scene special was fading," John says. "I'm in a different place now, where I'm focused on moving the music forward instead of focusing on what's wrong with it." 

With One Hundred Ten WKO, John 00 Fleming has delivered an album that plots a course back through the history of trance music, whilst simultaneously hurtling headfirst into the future. Strap down and prepare for launch: this one goes right out there and back.

Airwave - Time Is The Healer

Laurent Veronnez aka Airwave aka many many other guises was born in Brussels in 1977, he is a naturally gifted artist and this manifested in him at the age of just 7.

Influenced by the 80’s and 90’s sounds and by greats such as Kraftwerk, Jean Michel Jarre, Orbital, Oliver Lieb and BT, he honed his skills in music knowledge and technology.

Laurent would then see demos picked up by the infamous Bonzai imprint in 1996 and the stunning Airwave - I want To Believe was released. In 1998 this was picked up by many top DJ’s including Sasha and Oakenfold and later on by an up and coming DJ, Tiesto. 

Airwaves sound was and still is prominent in the UK and Dutch trance scene and this has helped a host of today’s top DJ’s be where they are now. His infectious music spread further in 1999 to Germany, Italy and the world and now Airwave is a very popular name on the EDM scene with a huge, loyal fanbase.

Versatility and great skill in the studio led to many collaborations including with his friend Jurgen Leyers with Fire & Ice and E.N.E.R.G.Y., Georges Petkidis on Planisphere and Marnik Braeckevelt with Antidote. The list continues with many other greats including Yves Deruyter, M.I.K.E., Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Tale, Marcus Schulz and John 00 Fleming, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Breaking boundaries and turning his hand to many genres of music Laurent has as many as 500+ productions and remixes under his belt. Laurent then started to develop his DJing and live performances and has played in some big venues, Slinky, Gatecrasher, Godskitchen, The Gallery, 1015, Dopler in Bratislava, and many others back in the day.

In 2000 he embarked on a new wave of performance with gigs all over the world in England, Scotland, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Canada, Netherlands, Spain, Finland, Norway, Switzerland, South Africa, with totally improvised keyboards while DJing and the Triloset was born and continues to this day.

Fast approaching 20 years in the business, Laurent can never be pigeon-holed to one genre as his impressive list of albums will attest. His first album Believe in 2002 performed very well and this was to do well again in the 2004 album I Want To Believe. Trilogique soon followed and it is now that Laurent’s passion starts to come through in a big way. Released first in 2006 this album contains three parts, bringing the audience three different tastes of electronic music into one single package, Trilogique would go on to be a huge success reaffirming Laurent’s position in EDM. Many more albums followed and each have made their mark on the world.

Time saw him finally running Bonzai Records with his long time partners and friends, and also expanding his knowledge of acoustics in order to develop his career as a producer and as a sound designer among others.

Laurent runs a monthly radio show called Progrez where he showcases a wide range of music, this is followed religiously by his army of fans the world over. Music that is full of emotion, special and unique with expressed feelings, many have claimed it has changed their lives for the better. When there are discussions on greats of EDM the name Airwave/Laurent always crops up.

He has a deep respect among his peers for his beliefs on the industry and he speaks honestly about how he feels and where he sees his musical vision take him. 

One of the most gifted artists of our time and with a passion still very strong we are sure to see a lot more from this man.
