C’est en hommage à un album de Mayra Andrade du même nom que la formation se baptise Navega. Il s’agit avant tout d’une rencontre entre musiciens stimulés par le même élan artistique.
C’est pendant leurs études au sein du Conservatoire de Bordeaux en 2014 qu’Emeline, Rija, Yori et Hugo se réunissent autour d’un répertoire Jazz, imprégné de rythmiques des îles d’Afrique du Nord et l’Océan Indien.
