It's a great pleasure to introduce our 2nd installment of our guest mixes for S|S. 

On this occasion we have a very special lady which has been raising eyebrows in Barcelona for the past 4 years. Watching this Colombian beauty on the decks is true delight as she tells her story through house and techno, shaping a sound of fresh and stripped down beats.

Recondite marks his return to Hotflush with the epic, potentially summer-defining 'Caldera' and a sequel to his 2012 hit 'DRGN'. The Bavarian artist has undergone a dazzling rise since that time, and one which is reflected in the increasing opulence of his music.

'Caldera', with its dramatic arpeggios and crescendos, is unabashed big-field decadence. Bearing all the hallmarks on which he's made his name - space, subtlety, build, attention to timbre - over the course of 9 minutes it raises the temperature to white heat. 'DRGN 2' picks up exactly where its 2012 namesake left off; that is, with an arching melody played out over droning tones of insidious intent. Dark, imposing and elegant - this is Recondite at his most wicked.

Modern underground musical behemoth No.19 Music now turns to its expert roster of house and techno talents for a Spring Sampler that is bursting at the seams with ready made, floor filling dynamite. All the crew old and new feature including Guti, Nitin, Hector, Clayton Steele, Maher Daniel, Eric Volta, Art Department’s Kenny Glasgow and many more.
In recent times the label run by Canadian DJ and producer and one half of Art Department, Jonny White, has become one of the most charted, played and influential in the global house scene. Whether releasing definitive albums and compilations from Art Department, hot EPs from mainstays like Louie Fresco and Eric Volta or high profile remixes from the likes of Kerri Chandler, Frankie Knuckles or Fred P this label really is at the sharp end of the scene.
As has been the label’s habit in recent years, No.19 look to the coming WMC Miami event with another sterling collection of original tracks. Label co-boss Nitin kicks things off with the brilliantly emotive and melodically lush house grooves of ‘I See’. Crosstown Rebels regular and piano whizz Guti then gets all bumpy with his dusty, hip- hop influenced beats on the jazzed up ‘Ruski’. Then comes a another core member of the No.19 family, Canadian and All Day I Dream regular Maher Daniel. His track is a prickly, spaced-out tech roller with tons of atmosphere that is sure to captivating hearts and minds on dance floors everywhere.
Close label friend and synth genius Eric Volta then pairs off with Brohn for ‘Lines of Entropy’, a sensuously slow burning and cinematic cut that places all its focus on dazzling melodic lines and slick beats. The legend that is Kenny Glasgow then gets up to some jacking, wobbly and off kilter house business on ‘Be Strong’, which has plenty of percussive energy and serene pad work. Mexico’s top producer, who released his debut LP on No.19 last year, Louie Fresco once again shows his skills on the heady, hypnotic techno workout that is ‘Anonymity’. Desolat’s connoisseur craftsman Hector then seduces listens with his deep, warm and engaging house track ‘High Times’ and rising talent Jonathan Lee offers some perfectly syncopated house kicks and nervy synth patterns on ‘Loyal Suns.’
Silky & Dadon’s ‘Move’ is a rubbery & techy house affair that really comes alive with Cari Golden’s whispered but emphatic vocal delivery, Moreon & Baffa offer expertly thumping and dubbed out house that is on the verge of being techno with ‘Mare De Due’ and finally Clayton Steele’s ‘Action’ is a perfectly spaced out and spacious number with sci-fi influences, occult 80s vocals and tons of great effects.
Once again this fantastic new Spring Sampler shows that No.19 Music continues to evolve, unearth new names and remain way ahead of the curve. Filled with inventive sounds miles away from the norm, this release is a mouthwatering prospect for both DJs and dancers alike.

If you’ve been keeping your eye on the Los Angeles D&B scene, then you’ll know all about Slogun and iOh. Hailed as “Ones to Watch” by Kmag in 2013, their deep respect for junglist history and culture has fuelled a steady rise to prominence both as DJs and producers. Now, they’re ready to take the next step, and make their mark on the international scene
as part of the Technique roster.

So, after the warning shot of Razor Sharp on the 15 Years of Technique LP, it’s time to welcome the team now known as Kronology with their first full release.

You & Me kicks off proceedings in an unmistakeably US style. Evolving house keys establish the percussive heart of the track as classic synth tones add a touch of euphoria. Then a rising siren provides a call to action, delivered on by a funk-filled pizzicato bass and ultra-crisp drums. With this one, Kronology manage to balance an effortless, liquid vibe with rolling rhythms that aim straight at the dance floor.

On Submerge, Kronology team up with some fellow Los Angelians, the DJs, live performers and producers Divine Elements. The result is some highly grimy bass and mightily hard drums all topped off with some finely chopped samples. At its core, this track is all about that rhythmic motif in the low-end, an irresistible rave engine which this production supergroup constantly disassemble and re-engineer to keep this fresh from beginning to end.

Then Kronology recruit the singer-songwriter known as Without My Armor, to show a whole new facet to their work. Monster opens into a claustrophobic atmosphere, with dark pads vying for space with the vocals and creating a level of tension that begs for relief. And that relief comes as the bassline and counter-balancing mid-range bursts onto the scene. The contrast between the constricted metal influence that weaves through the track and the open, big-room sound gives this a vibe all of its own.

So Kronology have arrived, and they’ve got some flavours that you might not have heard before. While fully immersed in drum and bass music, they’ve brought their own influences of American EDM, house, punk and metal to work into the formula. Straight out of the San Fernando Valley, here’s something new for the D&B scene, encapsulated in their first release, the Timelapse EP.

Madmotormiquel... First things first: Try pronouncing that. Or maybe don't – it's all about the music after all. Born and raised in West Berlin, Michel Neigenfnd – what his parents named him – had only music and collecting records on his mind from an early age. Influenced by British '77 punk- rock and US punk from the late 80s, he soon realised musical boundaries were nothing for him. His equally large passion for hip-hop paved the way to his first electronic productions. Big beat, drum n‘ bass, acid techno, early spiral tribe stuff... His first fusion festival in early 2000 as well as many illegal open airs and parties in a Berlin filled with open spaces after the fall of the wall, made clear the path he would take.  Up until then a party DJ with diverse genres, his passion for techno/house music steadily grew. Through own events with Bachstelzen, a collective of organisers that has greatly influenced Berlin‘s party scene with its events in elaborately themed off-locations, the course was set for frequent techno/house DJ gigs.

One of the co-founders of URSL Records, we are thrilled to have Madmotormiquel grace us with his presence for the very special 25th Edition of the Bespoke Musik Radio show... we think you'll enjoy this brilliant mix. <3

DaGeneral - Feel My Obsession [GS038]

Hot of the press DaGeneral is back again with another solo track release.  We werenâ€™t sure when we could expect another track from him as he has been busy as of late working on a multitude of things.
However, out of nowhere comes this little number.

Feel My Obsession is a nice little tech-house chugger with some nice grooves, which had us rocking along with his nice use of the vocal and feel good synths chipping in.  We didnâ€™t expect this style of music from the maestro! Clearly spending time with Blue Amazon is rubbing off into his production.

First on remix duties this time around is Ian Dillon, we have been loving his stuff as of late, and are more than happy to have him on board on the remix.  This is a sure fire hit in typical obsession style, we can see this being a radio and club hit for months to come. 

As always of course there is always going to be some Techno involved on General Surgery Records. And who else would you like to hear at the moment apart from Simone De Biasio!  In his true techno sound Simone does wonders on the techno remix, we expect to hear a lot of support for this track.

And last but not least on the remix duties is new kid on the block Elastic Funk with his minimal tech  with a feel of tech-house repaint of the original.  This once again we loved.

As always we cater for different tastes, so would like to hear what you think of the release.
