"The Hands That Built America" is a song about New York. And it was released on the soundtrack to the Martin Scorsese's film "Gangs of New York".  There are three known versions: First one is the "single version" that appeared on "The Best of 1990-2000" CD compilation, the next is the "video clip version" (acoustic) and finally the movie theater version with a long and grand intro and an "irish style".

The song was nominated for Best Original Song at the 75th Academy Awards, but unfairly lost to Eminem's "Lose Yourself", but won the Golden Globe for best original song in 2003.
