Lawrence ‘DJ Captain Petty’ started his career in music at the tender age of 18 in 1992 on America’s #4 Radio Station 106 KMEL JAMS 

in San Francisco. 

He produced and hosted the Mix-Show “Your Mamas House” affording him a position to put House Music on the airwaves prime time next to Top 40 Hip-Hop and R&B hits which positioned countless International House Music artists (such as DAFT PUNK, Ultra Nate and many others) to Crossover onto 

Billboards Top 100 Pop Charts.

During this period in the early 90’s, Lawrence Petty (aka Foxxee Brown) was the first openly gay on-air personality in American Broadcasting. 

As Co-Host of The #4 Morning Show in America ‘Sway and The Breakfast Club’ (The Original Breakfast Club Morning Show) 1993-2000. Lawrence Petty (during his Foxxee years on 106 KMEL JAMS) was cast in the 20th Century Fox American Classic “SOUL FOOD”. Where he played outlandish over the top hair dresser Harome. 

During this period(1994) the on-air personality Foxxee, host and producer of “Your Mamas House” was being heard around the World via the newly developed internet at www.106KMEL.com where avid fan of the mix-show, film producer/director 

Luc Besson found inspiration to create the iconic character “Ruby Rod” for his Sci-Fi Cult Classic “The Fifth Element”. 



Since radio Foxxee has lended his vocals to numerous licensed House Music productions including 

Kemal feat. Foxxee: 

City Street Walking (Purple Music 2011) 

Dave Aju & Thatmanmonks feat. Foxxee: They Sleep We Love (MFF Records 2020) just to name a few of his releases. 



Currently DJ Captain Petty is in the studio recording vocals for the International Artists LaTroit’s latest music project and DJing events.
