A rousing staple of the Laylit party dancefloor, Maghzal’s remix doubles down on the percussion and unleashes a dance of infectious vocal loops around the electric Dabkeh keyboard.

To mark the 100th edition of Laylit (@laylit), we commissioned some of our most adventurous collaborators to produce remixes of beloved songs from the Arab world. In this first of many compilation releases to come, some remixes reinterpret pop songs from the last decade while others reconfigure classics from the Tarab repertoire for the dancefloor. What they share is a spirit of experimentation and genre-bending that characterizes Laylit’s approach to percussive electronic music.

On her sparse yet entrancing remix of Syrian singer Saria El-Sawas’ beloved “Bas Esma3 Minni”, Loris (@lorisms)  gives Sawas’ voice center stage. Echoing around a swooning drum track, El-Sawas’ assertive plea sounds as irresistible as ever.

London's Love In The Endz and Lima's Matraca join forces to put a spotlight on Peruvian artists making waves in electronic music. The result is an extensive compilation gathering a mixture of already established musicians (with Dengue Dengue Dengue leading the bill presenting a collaborative track with Prisma) and upcoming producers - bringing a combination that showcases Peru's talents across different generations. Among those taking part are Lukrø and Orieta Chrem, two very familiar names to anyone who has been following the club music scene in Latin America in the past two decades, who deliver 'Tú y Yo', a reggaeton/footwork hybrid cooked up in Lima's Barranco district.

With Applause V.A. Vol. 2, Matteo — founder and artistic director of the label — continues the curatorial work begun in 2023: “to capture a living and moving ecosystem,” at the intersection of local, diasporic, and international club scenes. This new compilation brings together a selection of emerging and established artists from Europe, Africa, and the diasporas, offering a sonic landscape that’s percussive, hybrid, and emotional. Artem, DJ Travella, Blck Mamba, Dariiofox, Lorkestra, Marge, and Hey Bony all showcase unique perspectives on contemporary club music — balancing raw intensity with rhythmic nuance.

Designed as much for DJ sets as for deeper listening, the compilation reflects Applause’s DNA: a curatorial and inclusive space, connecting underground communities, global aesthetics, and multifaceted identities. Among the standout moments, Leyka’s Beli—DJ and producer affiliated with Drama and Nuit Brune collectives—embodies that sense of freedom. Led by a baile funk- inspired vocal, the track fuses Bass Music, Jersey Club, and raw rhythms into a spontaneous, high-energy blend built for unrestrained movement on the dancefloor.

Yautja (Ya-OOT-ja), is a throwback to 2009, a study of traditional UK dubstep, inspired by the rhythmic style of Benga.
