Kyorai was a Japanese haiku poet who first trained as a martial artist before he started writing and became one of Basho’s first disciples.

This haiku poem is part of the Naviar haiku music challenge, where artists are invited to make music in response to a weekly assigned haiku poem. Participation is free and there are no limitations in the songs’ length or genre.

phase separation being an awful pun here as it relates to the relative phases of two waveforms being separated as well as the chemical process by which two substances form a single mixture

using a single macro control to progress the piece - two oscillators starting off tuned identically - osc1 pitching down, more folds; osc2 pitching up, thru granular with increasing density. repeated sample in background with start position moving with macro control.

adjustments and background field recording added in ableton live.
