I'm starting a new ongoing collaboration with musician Louise Walters, and am also beginning to think about an installation I will create called 'Disquiet, Still'. This is made out of improvised piano at Louise's house and her footsteps.

Regarded as the father of contemporary haiku, Masaoka Shiki was a poet and literary critic during the Meiji period Japan.

He advocated realistic observation by “sketching” (shasei) poems and going out into nature with notebooks, thus abandoning the traditional subjects of haiku of the time. His advice for an aspiring poet was, “Use both imaginary pictures and real ones, but prefer the real ones.”

firstly i took the image associated with this project and edited it via the Image Glitch Tool on github (https://snorpey.github.io/jpg-glitch/)

I took this image and then found an online png to wav converter (as found here: https://nsspot.herokuapp.com/imagetoaudio/) which created a 20 second sound snippet.

I took this in ableton and repitched the parts and jammed it out on my pc keyboard.

One of the four great haiku masters, Yosa Buson studied both Japanese and Chinese poetry. He was also an accomplished painter, and most of his poems were accompanied by paintings, resulting in a more diverse and individual set of works than the one by his main historical influence, Basho.

A soothing, blissful and healing yoga / meditation mantra. The lyrics are in the Sanskrit language; it is a chant is known as the 'Shanti Mantra' or the 'Peace Invocation'. Very suitable as the beginning or end of a yoga practice or meditation session to invoke a sense of harmony, peace, and unity among all participants, and featuring a chant of Shanti (Peace) and Ohm (Focus chant).
