For the normies: CTF = CharlestheFirst = Favorite Artist of All Time (He Was #1 - Spongebob Reference)
Finding his music through either DARP (shoutout the homie - sick music check him out) or the spotify algorithm (shoutout - pay me money) and falling in love with the minimal yet encaptivating sound, invoking an experiential journey into exquisite wilderness scene while cultivating soft and subtle audible charcuteries through both the percussion and occasional bass. I think that's what made me fall in love with his music, or at least the spark. It was my favorite music to hit the study room's to. Some people are like wtf but I both enjoy and lock-in to work while I play music I can flow to (wiggle). At the time, I had just started slowing down my rap phase after lyrical rap fizzled out into mumble or other similar sounding types. I began learning about EDM and honestly did not love a lot of it.  House music all felt the same to me and was more a social thing (although shoutout the homies that put me on to -- HouseHats Bois shoutout). It was hard to get on the wave with rough and aggressive bass music, or at least what I was exposed to. This is like 2019-2020 btw. I really liked Zeds Dead, Porter Robinson, Madeon, and other artists that had prettier sounding vibes but could still make you go "oh shit" when the bass drops. Something about Charles' music  channeled straight to my core, I remember harassing my friends, friends of friends, and even acquaintances (nobody was safe) about listening to his music. Again, can't remember exactly what came first, but I saw that he was throwing a festival in Wyoming and my only friend that was receptive and shared a love for his music reluctantly (jk lmao) agreed to my offer to pay for flight + hotel + ticket if he came with me (Shoutout DARP). That was such an amazing experience. I was not hip to most of the artists and seeing them all have fun on stage together  in like the coolest way possible just was like such a representation of my love for music combined with what I understood as experimental bass. I was getting my Bachelors in Aerospace Engineering at the time and did autonomous drone research so naturally "experimental" was an instant click. I do be liking the lab. Speaking of lab, Lab Group became a thing after I had entered into my PhD program which hyped me up like a kid in a candy store as I shot lasers at sea lions. I was fully unexposed to the production side of music at this time and would imagine how they would create these articulate, pleasing, yet hard af sounds like they were literally in a lab. Well that was a fun tangent. Essentially CTF exposed me to all of the artists and a particular subculture music scene that that I fell in love with and felt at home at any of their events that I went to. Shout out Lab Group, my top 5 spotify listened to was  literally CTF, PD/TDK/Potions for 3-4 years. What happened next, oh yeah shoutout Decosta. He pulled up to me and DARP at the CTF set at Ezoo and got me so hype, I still relive that high to this day. Decosta is the absolute boy. Well yeah then me DARP and Klein had tickets to his new year's show and well, RIP to a beautiful and legendary soul. We still went and finally got to see Player Dave play and that was sickkkk. I walked home with a massive live painting made of CTF that I cherish to this day (shoutout Marina Radanovic -- sick painter check her out). Little did I know that this story would set the stage for lifechanging experiences, a wholeeee newwww worlddddd, reignition of my love for making and playing music/instruments, and lots of new endearing friends that think I'm aurtistic.
