Reuben, legendary fisherman of Great Faringdon, is a name that echoes through the annals of local lore, or at least through the whispers of the pub’s regulars after a few pints. Born with a fishing rod in one hand and a sarcastic quip in the other, Reuben took to the water like a duck to a pond—only with less grace and more splashing. From a young age, he was convinced that he was destined to reel in the biggest catch, despite the fact that the only thing he ever seemed to catch was a cold from standing in the rain for hours on end. 

His journey into the world of fishing began on a fateful day when he realized that the fish in the local river were smarter than he was. Armed with an array of fishing gear that could rival a small tackle shop, Reuben ventured forth, only to discover that the fish had a knack for avoiding his bait like it was a bad date. Each trip became a dramatic saga of epic proportions, filled with tales of the one that got away—an enormous trout, or so he claimed, that was definitely not just a small minnow that had the audacity to nibble at his line. 

As the years rolled on, Reuben transformed from a hopeful angler to a self-proclaimed fishing guru, sharing his "wisdom" with anyone who would listen. His friends often rolled their eyes at his exaggerated stories, but they couldn't help but admire his passion. He would spend hours perfecting his casting technique, which mostly involved flinging his line into the water with the grace of a lumbering elephant. His motto? “If you’re not getting tangled in your own line, are you even trying?” 

But amidst the dramatic escapades and ironic failures, Reuben found solace in another passion: house music. Yes, the man who spent his days battling fish and nature’s indifference would unwind by dancing to the pulsating beats that made the world feel alive. It was a surprising twist, really. While he may have spent hours in silence, waiting for a bite, his nights were filled with vibrant energy, where he could lose himself in the rhythm and let the music wash away the disappointments of the day. After all, what better way to celebrate the irony of life than by dancing to tracks that made him feel like a champion, even if his fishing skills left much to be desired? 

So, here’s to Reuben, the fisherman who caught more laughs than fish, and who found a way to blend the serene art of fishing with the electrifying pulse of house music—a true testament to the unpredictable, yet wonderfully ironic journey of life.
